About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with strong real estate accounting expertise to support a growing portfolio of property and development entities. This role requires a hands-on accountant who can own the month-end close, manage multiple entities, and operate independently with minimal oversight.

The ideal candidate has deep experience in real estate accounting, is comfortable working in cloud-based accounting systems, and understands the nuances of intercompany transactions, job costing, and property-level financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the monthly close process for multiple real estate entities
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records across property and holding entities
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Manage accounting for multiple properties and legal entities
  • Handle intercompany transactions and eliminations
  • Support job costing, project accounting, and development activities
  • Assist with investor reporting, lender reporting, and draw requests as needed
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and deadlines
  • Collaborate with external CPAs, auditors, and internal stakeholders

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong experience with QuickBooks Online or other cloud-based accounting systems
  • Proven ability to manage month-end close independently
  • Experience preparing financials for multiple entities
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Real estate accounting fundamentals
    • Job costing or project accounting
    • Intercompany transactions

Required Experience

  • 4–6 years of overall accounting experience
  • Minimum 2 years of direct real estate accounting experience
  • Prior experience at a Senior Accountant or Junior Controller level
  • Demonstrated ability to manage responsibilities with minimal training or supervision

Industry Background

  • Required: Real estate accounting experience
    • Residential, commercial, and/or development
  • Strong Plus:
    • Construction accounting
    • Job cost tracking and project-based accounting

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Hands-on, practical real estate accounting experience
  • Ability to own the month-end close process end-to-end
  • Comfortable juggling multiple property and legal entities
  • Strong organizational skills with a track record of meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and proactively

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Construction or development accounting experience
  • Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment
  • Exposure to:
