Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper with E-commerce experience to support a portfolio of online and digitally native businesses. This role is responsible for day-to-day bookkeeping, accurate transaction processing, and supporting month-end close across multiple sales channels and payment platforms.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with e-commerce accounting, understands high-volume transactional environments, and can independently manage recurring bookkeeping tasks while escalating issues appropriately. This role is critical to maintaining clean books, reliable reporting, and timely financial insights for clients.


Key Responsibilities

Perform day-to-day bookkeeping for assigned e-commerce clients, including:

Recording high-volume transactions

Bank, credit card, and payment processor reconciliations

Reconcile e-commerce platforms and payment processors, including:

Shopify, Amazon, WooCommerce, or similar

Stripe, PayPal, Square, or other gateways

Track and reconcile sales, refunds, chargebacks, fees, and discounts

Record and reconcile sales tax payable and assist with sales tax filings

Maintain accurate general ledger records across multiple channels and currencies (if applicable)

Support month-end close by:

Preparing reconciliations and schedules

Assisting with financial statements and variance explanations

Track inventory-related transactions, including:

Cost of goods sold (COGS)

Inventory adjustments and write-offs

Process and review expenses, bills, and payouts using tools such as Bill.com, Ramp, or similar platforms

Work closely with senior accounting staff to identify discrepancies, unusual trends, or missing data

Assist with onboarding new clients by gathering documentation and setting up accounting workflows


Required Experience & Qualifications

2+ years of e-commerce bookkeeping or accounting experience

Hands-on experience with:

Online sales platforms and payment processors

High-volume transactional accounting

Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online (required)

Experience with e-commerce platforms such as:

Shopify

Amazon Seller Central

WooCommerce

BigCommerce or similar

Experience with payment processors such as:

Stripe

PayPal

Square

Amazon Pay

Experience with inventory accounting and COGS preferred

Experience with sales tax tracking across states or jurisdictions preferred

Proficiency in Excel (intermediate level or higher)


What Will Disqualify a Candidate

No e-commerce or online business accounting experience

Inability to independently manage reconciliations for payment processors

Lack of understanding of fees, refunds, chargebacks, or sales tax implications

Poor attention to detail or difficulty managing high transaction volumes
