Position Overview:     

As the Director of Surveying at JBPro, you will oversee and manage the Surveying Department in our fast-growing St. Augustine office.  Working closely with the company President and the Vice-President of Surveying, you will chart strategic directions and ensure the department operates smoothly and profitably. You will be responsible for developing business for the Surveying Department and the St. Augustine market overall while leading a team of surveying professionals and guiding project execution, regulatory compliance, and adherence to industry standards.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Provide authoritative expertise in Surveying Principles and oversee final decisions on all survey maps and documents. 

  • Manage daily work efforts of survey staff, ensuring efficient operations and high-quality deliverables and train field crew staff on survey principles, equipment usage, and industry standards. 

  • Manage all equipment and resources assigned to survey crews, maintaining optimal functionality and upkeep. 

  • Collaborate with Administrative staff to address survey needs, purchases, and human resources requirements. 

  • Oversee and maintain the overall survey schedule, ensuring deadlines are met promptly and efficiently. 

  • Strong business acumen and ability to contribute to business development efforts. 

  • Manage invoicing processes for survey projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, and monitor project and department profitability 

  • Prepare detailed proposals for new survey projects, outlining scope, timeline, and cost estimates. 

  • Coordinate effectively with clients, maintaining clear and proactive communication throughout project lifecycles. 

  • Apply knowledge of construction principles to interpret engineering construction drawings accurately. 

  • Collaborate closely with the Civil Engineering Department to align project survey needs with overall project goals. 

  • Utilize AutoCAD and specialized survey software, such as Trimble Business Center, to prepare precise survey maps and calculations. 

  • Support field crews with survey field work as needed to meet project deadlines and schedule requirements. 

  • Attend all company organizational and coordination project meetings to stay aligned with company objectives and project progress. 

What You’ll Need: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. 

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in the surveying industry.  

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in leading operational excellence. 

  • PSM or PLS license in Florida. 

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Civil3D preferred. 

  • Proficiency in Trimble Business Center or similar survey processing software. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong aptitude for client engagement. 

  • Strong business development acumen 

  • Physical capability to perform field surveying tasks. 

  • Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
