About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Information Assurance Team Lead to oversee and manage a team of subject matter experts responsible for critical Information Assurance activities. This leadership role requires an individual who can effectively coordinate Information System Security Officers (ISSOs) and work closely with Information System Security Managers and Authorizing Official Designated Representatives to ensure compliance with federal requirements and contractual obligations.

What you'll do

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead and manage a team of Information Assurance subject matter experts
  • Provide strategic direction and operational oversight for Information Assurance activities
  • Coordinate resource allocation and workforce management for Information System Security Officers
  • Foster collaboration between Information System Security Managers and Authorizing Official Designated Representatives
  • Ensure team performance aligns with NNSA OCIO and Federal stakeholder requirements

Process Management & Compliance

  • Document, organize, and maintain internal processes subject to federal requirements
  • Develop and implement procedures to meet contractual obligations and regulatory standards
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and reviews of Information Assurance processes
  • Prepare for and support external audits and compliance reviews
  • Ensure continuous improvement of operational procedures and documentation

Operations & Communication

  • Oversee day-to-day Information Assurance operations to support mission objectives
  • Serve as primary liaison between the team and NNSA OCIO stakeholders
  • Communicate effectively with Federal stakeholders on program status and compliance matters
  • Provide regular reporting on team performance, compliance status, and operational metrics
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities with other organizational units

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in Information Assurance or cybersecurity roles
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience leading cybersecurity teams, preferably Information Assurance teams
  • Demonstrated experience working with federal compliance requirements and audit processes

Certifications

  • Current professional certification as specified in DoD 8140, such as:
    • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
    • Or ability to obtain qualifying certification within 6 months of hire/contract start

Technical Skills

  • Deep understanding of Information Assurance principles and practices
  • Knowledge of federal cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, RMF, etc.)
  • Experience with security assessment and authorization processes
  • Proficiency in risk management and compliance documentation
  • Understanding of NNSA and DOE security requirements

Work Environment
This position operates in a professional federal government environment with potential for hybrid work arrangements. The role requires regular interaction with senior leadership and external stakeholders. Some travel may be required for stakeholder meetings, site visits, or program activities. The position involves handling sensitive information and maintaining appropriate security protocols.
