About the Role 

The FIP/FIAR Consultant – Level 1 will support the U.S. Army’s Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness initiatives, which are focused on strengthening financial reporting, audit response, remediation, and sustainment efforts across Army organizations and service providers. 

This role supports Targeted Mission Areas where the Army requires emerging (Entry Level) and foundational (Level 1) financial expertise, including: 

• Real Property accountability and reporting - Fort Sam Houston (San Antonio, TX), Shaw AFB (Sumter, SC) - Entry Level + Level 1
• Fund Balance with Treasury - DC Metro (Hybrid) - Level 1
• Intergovernmental Transactions - DC Metro (Remote) - Level 1

You will join a team of consultants dedicated to improving the accuracy, reliability, and auditability of Army financial data while supporting mission-critical operations. 

What You'll Do 

• Support financial reporting, audit response, and remediation activities 
• Perform reconciliations, data validation, and financial analysis across assigned functional areas. 

• Support Real Property accountability and reporting initiatives (as applicable). 

• Analyze large financial datasets and leverage data tools to improve accuracy and timeliness 

• Coordinate with government stakeholders to ensure deliverables align with Army priorities and audit requirements 

Job Requirements 

• Level 1
• • Minimum 4 years of experience in Federal financial management (Army experience strongly preferred)
  • Foundational experience working with one or more of the Targeted Mission Areas
  • Direct consulting experience (Federal or Commercial)
• Entry Level
• • Minimum 12 months of internship or other paid experience in financially relevant areas
  • Work-related exposure to one or more of the Targeted Mission Areas or to general ledgers, financial statements, subledgers, reconciliations, audit artifacts, or financial systems 

• Level-agnostic requirements
• • DoD/DoW Secret clearance. Interim Secret is permissible and new sponsorship is available.
  • Credentials (one of the following)
  • • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field or
    • One of the following active and current certifications issued by appropriate licensing authority: CPA, CIA, CISA, CGFM, CDFM, PMP, SAFe, ITIL. 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities 

• Direct experience with Targeted Mission Areas at a DoW Agency
• Experience supporting Army Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) initiatives 
• Direct experience supporting financial accountability/auditability 
• Hands-on experience with data tools such as SQL, Python, or similar technologies 
• Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills
