Our National Medicaid Financing Practice (NMF) works with clients such as states, counties, health systems, safety net hospitals, academic medical centers, physicians, nursing facilities and medical schools navigate the opportunities to strengthen their Medicaid business through the conception, creation and implementation of programs designed to increase Medicaid reimbursement and leverage their unique capacities to deliver on the quality and value propositions growing in Medicaid.  Our teams work together to ensure that technical, policy and political solutions are created to ensure successful results for our clients, particularly in the area of Medicaid financing. 

About the Role

Sellers Dorsey is seeking a Consultant who will support the Managing Director, Directors, Associate Directors and Senior Consultants in ensuring the timely and effective delivery of specific consulting services in areas related to Medicaid finance and healthcare operations. The Consultant is expected to develop expertise and specialized skills in selected areas relating to healthcare reimbursement policy, strategy and management. In addition to working primarily with hospitals, health systems, and physician practices, this role may also deliver selected services to States, private companies and various associations or unions. The role is responsible for direct service delivery and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Track the progression of project components. Documents important decisions, next steps, and keeps project team informed regarding key deadlines.
  • Draft meeting agendas, meeting notes, weekly reports.  Ensure project management software system is updated.
  • Produce or assist in the drafting of client deliverables. 
  • Assist with meeting planning and coordination. Prepare for and attend both internal team and external client meetings, as requested.
Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 3-7 years in a healthcare policy administration role and/or in the healthcare consulting industry; or 2-3 years of progressively responsible work experience in health or human services policy research, consulting and/or in a service delivery environment.
  • Advanced degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Public Health, Health Administration, business, economics or MBA preferred (or additional relevant experience in lieu of such advanced degree).
  • Project management skills, preferably experience working with subject matter experts.
  • Experience with Medicaid preferred.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Share Point, and Asana.
Other Requirements
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including relaying complex technical terms in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Ability to interact professionally with clients and other outside audiences.
  • Experience delivering services on several projects simultaneously. 
  • Experience organizing and coordinating the work of others.
  • Professional writing experience highly desirable. 
  • Previous project/task management experience strongly desired; attention to detail, a must.
  • The ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Time management skills. 
  • Time will be accounted for on a weekly basis
  • Willingness to occasionally work outside normal business hours and/or travel for internal Sellers Dorsey meetings, conferences, or client visits. 

Compensation & Benefits 

The anticipated salary range for candidates is $65,400/year in our lowest geographic market range to up to $90/year in our highest geographic market range. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry, the candidate’s education, and the candidate’s market location. Typically, candidates are not hired near the top of the range and compensation decisions are made based upon Sellers Dorsey’s Total Compensation Policies & Guidelines. The successful candidate will also be eligible to participate in our annual Corporate Incentive Plan (CIP) that can range to up to 7% of annual salary. 

Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, the successful candidate (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, and vision and for insurance plans offering short term disability, long term disability, and basic life. Employees are also able to enroll in Sellers Dorsey’s 401k plan provided they meet plan requirements.  Sellers Dorsey offers a Flexible Time Off that allows employees to use what they need. Additionally, we offer 10 paid holidays throughout the calendar year, paid time off for qualifying medical leave, and up to 12 weeks of combined paid parental and bonding leave.
