Our National Medicaid Financing Practice (NMF) works with clients such as states, counties, health systems, safety net hospitals, academic medical centers, physicians, nursing facilities and medical schools navigate the opportunities to strengthen their Medicaid business through the conception, creation and implementation of programs designed to increase Medicaid reimbursement and leverage their unique capacities to deliver on the quality and value propositions growing in Medicaid.  Our teams work together to ensure that technical, policy and political solutions are created to ensure successful results for our clients, particularly in the area of Medicaid financing.  


About the Role


Sellers Dorsey is seeking a Managing Director, Healthcare Finance & Quality who will be responsible for managing the SMEs practice of NMF (Finance and Quality) and help develop and implement Medicaid financing and revenue enhancement initiatives for Sellers Dorsey clients. As the Managing Director, Healthcare Finance & Quality, you will anchor a centralized Policy and Support team and provide oversight and guidance for the firm’s growing number of experienced Medicaid subject matter experts. Also, you will be responsible for managing assigned consulting staff leadership and client engagements including utilization, profitability, and client satisfaction.  This role will also oversee training, development, performance, career path and team member utilization.  


Responsibilities/Duties

  • Oversee the overall portfolio of clients within the SMEs practice of NMF using their expertise in Medicaid policy and health care data analytics, and participate in initial sales, renewals and extensions.
  • Oversee the management of multiple projects/clients, engagements, priorities, and timelines within assigned Practice while ensuring exceptional client satisfaction. Responsible for delivery of quality project/engagement deliverables to clients on agreed upon schedule to ensure client satisfaction while managing and developing client relationships.
  • Participate in the recruitment, development, utilization and retention of consulting staff. Provide appropriate mentoring; manage performance feedback, training and professional development opportunities to help individuals in assigned Practice.
  • Participate in the development of strategies that respond to market trends and develop intellectual capital and generate business ideas to enhance the Firm’s consulting services and products. Develop sales, marketing and business development strategies and products for the practice that are consistent and coordinated with the Firm’s overall strategic business goals.
  • Manage the performance of consulting services internal and external resources, including staff and outside vendors and contractors, ensuring clear communication of expectations, a focus on project quality, timely implementation of deliverables and exceptional client satisfaction.
  • Manage and review consulting practice utilization to ensure utilization targets are achieved. Work collaboratively with other members of the Management Team to ensure Firm resources, including both internal and external resources, are utilized in a manner that maximizes Firm long-term profitability and client account growth.
  • Identify opportunities with other Practices and additional service offerings to existing clients that maximize long term benefits and relationship between the client and Sellers Dorsey. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Public Health, Health Administration, business, economics. Advanced degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Public Health, Health Administration, business, economics or MBA preferred.
  • 15 or more combined years in Medicaid and public healthcare policy management role and/or the healthcare consulting industry.
  • Expertise in policy and health care data analytics.
  • Expertise in “healthcare quality and measurement” (e.g. background in measure selection, measure development, national standards and benchmarks such as HEDIS).
  • Advanced data analytics – expert excel user, data management and programming experience preferred (SQL, SAS, etc.)
  • Expertise in SQL and Microsoft Office.
  • Expertise in Medicaid financing and payments.
  • Experience managing large or complex projects; able to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Recognized leader in the health care industry with demonstrated expertise in strategy and management; possesses established reputation for industry-leading expertise and thought leadership in one or more specialties pertaining to Medicaid.
  • Proven expertise in developing and managing relationships with contractors, providers, stakeholders, clients.
  • Experience managing remote employees and teams, ensuring staff development and appropriate utilization. 
  • Advanced oral, written and presentation skills.
  • Experience leading negotiations in complex situations


Compensation & Benefits 


The anticipated salary range for candidates is $186,800/year in our lowest geographic market range to up to $235,000/year in our highest geographic market range. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry, the candidate’s education, and the candidate’s market location. Typically, candidates are not hired near the top of the range and compensation decisions are made based upon Sellers Dorsey’s Total Compensation Policies & Guidelines. The successful candidate will also be eligible to participate in our annual Corporate Incentive Plan (CIP) that can range to up to 20% of annual salary. 


Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, the successful candidate (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, and vision and for insurance plans offering short term disability, long term disability, and basic life. Employees are also able to enroll in Sellers Dorsey’s 401k plan provided they meet plan requirements.  Sellers Dorsey offers a Flexible Time Off that allows employees to use what they need. Additionally, we offer 10 paid holidays throughout the calendar year, paid time off for qualifying medical leave, and up to 12 weeks of combined paid parental and bonding leave.
