About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and culturally-savvy Social Media Coordinator to manage Paper Rex’s presence on Chinese social media platforms, with a focus on Bilibili and Xiaohongshu. You will be working closely with the Content Lead and Social Media Manager to bridge APAC gaming content with Mainland Chinese audiences within the Paper Rex community.

Key Responsibilities

Content Management

  • Create, schedule, and publish engaging content on Bilibili and Xiaohongshu
  • Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and community interactions in a timely and culturally appropriate manner
  • Maintain consistent posting schedule to maximize engagement and platform algorithm performance
  • Track content performance and provide insights on trending topics and audience preferences

Translation & Localization

  • Translate content from English to Simplified Chinese and vice versa
  • Localize memes, jokes, and cultural references to resonate with Mainland Chinese audiences
  • Adapt VALORANT-related content including official team announcements, live match coverage and game updates
  • Ensure cultural sensitivity and appropriateness of all translated materials

Community Engagement

  • Build and nurture relationships with followers and community members
  • Identify and engage with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and content creators in the VALORANT space
  • Monitor trending topics within the Chinese gaming community
  • Facilitate community discussions and maintain positive brand presence

Required Qualifications

Language & Cultural Expertise

  • Native or near-native proficiency in Simplified Chinese (Mandarin)
  • Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Deep understanding of Mainland Chinese internet culture, slang, and meme culture (梗文化)
  • Awareness of gaming trends in both Western and Chinese markets
  • Understanding of competitive gaming culture and esports scene
  • Familiarity with Chinese internet conventions including:
    • Platform-specific etiquette and communication styles
    • Popular emoticons, stickers, and expressions
    • Censorship awareness and content guidelines

Platform Knowledge

  • Proven experience managing Bilibili (B站) accounts
  • Strong understanding of Xiaohongshu (小红书) content formats and audience
  • Knowledge of platform algorithms and best practices for content optimization
  • Familiarity with other Chinese platforms (WeChat, Weibo, Douyin) is a plus

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in social media management tools and scheduling platforms
  • Basic graphic design skills (Photoshop, Canva, or similar tools)
  • Video editing capabilities for short-form content (preferred)
  • Analytics and reporting experience



Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in gaming industry or esports organizations
  • Understanding of content creation for Gen Z audiences
  • Knowledge of Chinese gaming regulations and compliance requirements
  • Experience with live streaming platforms and real-time engagement
  • Portfolio of previous social media work or content creation
