Tech Tools Associate

About the role:

The Tech Tools Associate will support staff and group members in effectively utilizing the technology tools needed to operationalize their organizing work. Reporting to the Associate Director of Technology, this position assists with processing technology onboarding requests, managing day-to-day support operations, and helping maintain Indivisible's distributed technology stack.


This role works closely with the Organizing department to ensure our tools and strategy are aligned with the Organizing Department's needs. We currently support EveryAction, MyVoters/VAN, Empower, BallotReady, Mobilize, Freshdesk, and other tools as needed.


This position is a good fit for someone with an interest or background in political technology who wants to build their skills in tool support and technical operations within a mission-driven environment. This is a full-time, short-term assignment anticipated to end on or before November 30, 2026. The salary for this position is $80,500 annually, and the role is expected to require 40 hours of work per week.


What you'll do:

  • Conduct local group technology onboarding meetings (~20 per week) - 20%
  • Process local group technology applications for EveryAction and Mobilize (10–20 per week, respectively) - 20%
  • Review and approve events on a regular basis, including during high-volume periods such as mass mobilizations - 15%
  • Support fulfillment of EveryAction and Mobilize Freshdesk tickets; act as first-line vetter and escalate more technical issues as needed - 20%
  • Help manage the staff tech tools questions Slack channel - 10%
  • Assist in maintaining and updating training materials, FAQs, knowledge base articles, and documentation - 10%
  • Other duties as assigned - 5%

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience as a user of political technology such as VAN, EveryAction, Mobilize, or peer-to-peer texting tools.
  • Familiarity with help desk or ticketing systems (Freshdesk experience a plus).
  • Comfort explaining technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose and triage technical issues.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to track and prioritize multiple support requests.
  • Comfort working with spreadsheets; basic Excel proficiency required.
  • Strong written communication skills for documentation and support correspondence.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience using Freshdesk or similar help desk platform.
  • Background in field organizing or volunteer coordination.
  • Experience creating training documentation or how-to guides.
  • Experience coordinating with vendors or tool contacts.
  • Experience as an administrator or power user of political technology tools.
