ML Engineer (Senior)

Hi. We're Infinitus. We're a team of ex-Googlers, startup veterans, and industry experts on a mission to build AI that improves how Americans get access to critical specialty medications. Our purpose-built AI system automates phone calls to insurance companies, pharmacy benefit managers, and pharmacies to make the business of caring for people less "business," more "people."

Our approach combines multi-model/multimodal AI, human-in-the-loop machine learning, and an extensive knowledge graph to conduct accurate, compliant, autonomous conversations between organizations. Since Infinitus was founded over six years ago, we’ve automated over 5 million calls saving the US healthcare system thousands of hours.

We've raised $102.9M from the best venture capitalists and many industry leaders such as Kleiner Perkins, Coatue Management, Google Ventures, a16z and Memorial Hermann. If your looking to join a dynamic team at the forefront of AI and health tech, and you're ready to challenge "how it's always been done," we want to meet you.

We are in search of a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to own, drive, and design our AI automation systems. We are scaling our end-to-end phone call automation use cases, serving an increasing number of customers with a diverse set of tasks handled by our AI automation systems.

This is an opportunity to:

  • Apply strategic AI thinking to solution development.
  • Mentor, guide, and influence teams of engineers.
  • Engage in hands-on, impactful work that directly benefits customers and the business.

Our AI automation systems blend traditional machine learning, deep learning, and large language models (LLMs) to maximize performance and scalability. We welcome candidates with expertise in either ML engineering (feature engineering, modeling, optimization, serving etc.) or AI engineering (prompt design, LLM fine-tuning, evaluation, LLM serving & inference optimization, memory and context management, etc.)—or ideally, a combination of both.

Competencies:

  • Has delivered, scaled and maintained a successful AI product in industry.
  • Has a practical, data-driven mindset towards AI approaches, making informed decisions that consider time, compute, robustness, and fairness.
  • Has led and aligned teams of engineers, data scientists, and ML researchers on technical design and implementation.
  • Has shown entrepreneurial spirit (e.g. worked at an early stage startup, or launched a product from the ground up).
  • Can prioritize and scope development based on business and product needs.
  • Has led technical excellence efforts, ensuring best practices for productionized ML systems.
  • Is a prolific individual contributor, setting high standards for software quality, technical design, and end-to-end ownership.
  • Is a great cross functional communicator, collaborating with product managers, designers, and analysts to understand user needs and build impactful products.
  • Contributes to both short and long term roadmaps, making effective tradeoffs between impact, user experience, and a high-quality technical foundation.
  • Helps improve the team and company culture, actively participating in hiring, mentoring, and new initiatives.
  • Aligns with our values of: Customer Obsessed; Optimistic; Disagree+Commit; Engage Employees; See, Say, Do.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience, with demonstrated growth.
  • 2+ years of experience working in applied ML or NLP in practical, industry settings.
  • Experience building and scaling end to end ML models and pipelines in production environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects from concept through completion.
  • Expertise in Python.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Undergrad, Masters, or equivalent coursework in ML or NLP.
  • A curiosity to continue to learn and stay up to date on machine learning, engineering and infrastructure technologies.

What’s the impact:

  • Be part of something groundbreaking: join a team that is at the forefront of agentic AI, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in healthcare automation.
  • Impact at scale: drive the evolution of our AI automation, enhancing healthcare experiences for an increasing number of customers and patients.
  • Shape the future: help define and execute our technical AI roadmap,  developing novel approaches that drive real-world impact.
