Social Media Freelancer

Initialized is focused on investing across AI, robotics, space, energy, defense, and crypto. The firm has backed companies including Coinbase, Instacart, Flexport, and Rippling  and spends a lot of time thinking about how new tools, especially AI, are changing how companies and products get built and stay defensible.

The Role
We are seeking a socially fluent, editorially strong Social Media professional with a proven track record of creating high-quality content (video clips, graphics, copy) and growing engaged audiences across YouTube (including Shorts), LinkedIn, X, and Instagram. 


Initialized already produces core long-form content (founder interviews, launch videos, written announcements). This role focuses on thoughtfully adapting, packaging, and distributing existing content for platform-native channels, strengthening clarity, consistency, and discoverability while maintaining a strong quality bar. Strong writing is essential — every clip, graphic, and post requires clear, thoughtful copy tailored to each platform.


This is a highly collaborative role. All content is developed in close coordination with the Head of Communications and reviewed prior to publication to ensure precision and alignment. This role requires someone highly organized, proactive, able to stay ahead of deadlines, and excited about growing a brand through relevance and credibility rather than volume.


Key Responsibilities

  • Adapt and optimize existing long-form content into polished short-form clips and platform-native posts, including writing sharp, original copy for each platform.
  • Create on-brand thumbnails, graphics, and social images (including for time-sensitive launches).
  • Manage social content calendar to ensure consistent, prepared posting.
  • Apply SEO/AEO best practices where relevant (e.g., YouTube titles and descriptions) to improve discoverability.
  • Monitor and analyze audience growth, demographics, engagement, and top-performing posts across platforms.
  • Identify smart opportunities to improve reach, clarity, and audience alignment.
  • Stay current on platform best practices while maintaining a thoughtful, high-quality brand presence.


Tools & Technical Fluency

You should be highly proficient in (or have strong experience with equivalent tools):


Video Editing

  • CapCut, Descript, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro (or similar), including editing for Shorts/Reels/LinkedIn-native formats.

Design & Graphics

  • Canva (advanced), Adobe Photoshop, Figma, or similar tools - with a strong sense of typography, layout, and visual consistency.

Scheduling & Measurement

  • Sprout Social (or similar), YouTube Studio, LinkedIn/X/Instagram native analytics, and familiarity with tracking audience growth and performance metrics.
  • Working knowledge of SEO/AEO best practices as they apply to video titles, descriptions, and distribution is important.

Strong file organization and workflow management are essential.

The pay range for this role is:
