Senior Cyber Engineer

About the role

Integer Technologies seeks a Senior Cyber Engineer to support advanced research on Navy‑relevant cyber‑physical systems. This role contributes hands‑on engineering expertise across cyber‑physical modeling, vulnerability assessment, dynamic cyber defense concept development, embedded systems security, and AI/ML‑based detection research. Senior Engineers work closely with engineering managers, LSU collaborators, and Navy sponsors to execute technical tasks, design experimental environments, validate defensive approaches, and help translate research findings into prototype capabilities. The role requires strong technical independence, curiosity, and the ability to solve complex problems with no known solutions.

What you'll do

  • Perform cyber‑physical modeling and analysis of Navy‑relevant systems, including identifying degradation pathways, mission impacts, and cyber‑relevant factors from empirical and simulated data.
  • Support development of dynamic cyber defense concepts by researching vulnerability taxonomies, defensive methods, attack surfaces, and lifecycle‑aware resilience strategies.
  • Contribute to feasibility studies and the design of bench‑scale experiments that validate defensive concepts using realistic system features and controlled cyber‑attack conditions.
  • Assist in research activities involving anomaly detection, AI/ML methods, memory forensics, fuzzing, and binary analysis techniques for embedded systems.
  • Participate in development of digital modeling environments that simulate cyber‑physical interactions and quantify mission impacts of cyberattacks.
  • Collaborate with engineering managers, research partners, and Navy sponsors during technical reviews, assessment cycles, and refinement of research goals.
  • Document research findings, experimental results, and technical insights clearly and professionally for sponsor reports and project deliverables.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree + 6 years of experience, or Master’s degree + 4 years in cybersecurity, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience with cyber‑physical systems research, including modeling, simulation, vulnerability analysis, or dynamic defense concepts.
  • Familiarity with embedded system security techniques such as memory forensics, fuzzing, or binary analysis.
  • Experience contributing to laboratory or simulation‑based experiments for cyber‑physical resilience evaluation.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of AI/ML‑based anomaly detection methods for embedded systems.
  • Experience developing or using mission‑impact models for cyber‑physical systems.
  • Familiarity with Navy ashore/afloat operational environments or maritime cyber‑physical systems.
  • Experience with digital simulation environments or modeling tools for cyber‑physical interactions.
  • Background contributing to technical reports, white papers, or feasibility studies.
  • Experience working with CUI environments or DoD research workflows.
