Role Summary

The Process and Systems Engineer will be responsible for process development of advanced

cells as well as process transfer to gigafactories in India, Korea and other global locations. This role also supports equipment installation and startup at customer/partner facility, coordinating with EPC contractors and

vendors. This role will work with a high-performance, globally distributed team, with opportunities to work on cutting-edge battery technology and make a significant impact on the future of mobility and energy storage.

What you'll do

• Design and management of process delivery systems for the gigafactory
• Provide technical expertise on equipment design, debug, integration and onsite support during FAT and SAT
• Make design recommendations to equipment vendors to meet MSN’s process requirements
• Support operations and resolve bottlenecks at gigafactory
• Learn and ensure process transfer and process recipe stabilization at MSN gigafactory
• Contribute expertise to design of additional process chemical delivery systems
• Develop equipment, control systems, and processes for lithium-ion cell manufacturing
• Lead creation of control narrative documents for process systems
• Collaborate with vendors on equipment roadmaps aligned with MSN’s product roadmap
• Work in low moisture dry room environments (<1.0% RH, -45°C dew point)
• Comply with OSHA manual lifting guidelines (<50 lbs)
• Effectively share results with global teams

Qualifications

Required

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in hazardous chemical process design or high-tech manufacturing
• Strong background in lithium-ion cell manufacturing technologies
• Experience in process improvements and troubleshooting equipment startup
• Ability to design and execute experiments that drive industrial decisions
• Experience onboarding and managing high-tech equipment vendors
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering, Chemistry, or Materials Science
• 50% international travel

Nice To Have

• Experience with commercial/industrial battery manufacturing
• Experience in tooling development and mechanical design
