Industrial Maintenance SME (Consultant)

Position: SME Consultant (Industrial Maintenance)
 
This SME position will be a critical advisor to Interplay and a key part of our growth, helping us build industry-leading training content to advance the industrial maintenance trade. Specifically, we are looking for subject matter experts with the following expertise:

  • Maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment like: forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyor systems, industrial hoists, cranes, tow tractors, automated guided vehicles, stackers, reclaimers, order pickers, overhead doors, etc. 
  • Hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, power transmission equipment, and automation.
 
You will play a critical role on the Production Team, working with designers & developers to create and review content for skilled trades training.
 
Please note this is an hourly contract position with variable hours and is not eligible for the "Company Benefits" listed below. Work is 100% remote.  Some availability during business hours is needed to attend scheduled Zoom meetings.

What you'll do:
  • Advise internal teams on industry dynamics and best practices
  • Use your expertise to support content development for VR simulations and eLearning videos
  • Advise on malfunctions for simulations
  • Develops and assists in the creation of  procedure guides
  • Write and record voiceover scripts and screencasts for videos 
  • Generate valid and reliable test questions/knowledge checks
  • Develop fault scenarios
  • Review courses for accuracy
 
Who you are:
  • Extensive knowledge of industrial maintenance
  • Teaching or training experience is preferred
  • Organized and communicative with the team
  • Desire and ability to collaborate with designers and developers and respond to queries and feedback within 1-2 business days
 
Requirements:
  • Extensive knowledge of skilled trades subject matter
  • Systematic approach to troubleshooting
  • Research skills
  • Teaching, training or mentoring experience is ideal
  • Computer skills - G-Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides)
  • Camtasia (video tutorial and presentation software), will teach
  • Writing skills for knowledge checks and procedure guides
  • Availability during business hours to attend scheduled Zoom meetings
  • Willingness to work as a 1099 Independent Contractor and provide your own computer, internet, etc.
  • We may ask you to record a video intro for the hiring team if your application looks like a potential match. Instructions will be sent. 

 
Pay: $50-75/hr (1099)
