Position: Director of Revenue Systems & Architecture
The Director of Revenue Systems & Architecture is the technical architect and builder of Interplay Learning's revenue systems (sales, customer success, marketing). This role owns the design, development, and lifecycle of the Salesforce ecosystem and adjacent GTM platforms, the underlying data architecture that powers reporting and automation, and the adoption of AI tools that make the revenue engine faster and more self-sufficient. Reporting to the CFO, this leader is the hands-on technical owner who turns business requirements into scalable, well-engineered systems. In this role you will manage a small team.
This is a builder-and-operator role first: strong candidates will spend the majority of their time in systems architecture, configuration, integration, and data modeling. Broader RevOps competencies — sales/CS process design, executive-level business partnership, and cross-functional strategy — remain valuable and will still come up day to day, but they are secondary to technical depth and are treated as a strong plus rather than a core requirement.
This is a fully remote position. Preference will be given to candidates based in the Austin, TX area or within a reasonable driving distance for occasional in-person meetings.
Why this position:
- Meaningful, impactful work
- Mission-driven company
- Career development in a dynamic, high growth environment
- Passionate, collaborative team
- Innovative product - EdTech, VR, AI
What you'll do:
Systems Architecture & Development
- Own the architecture of our revenue technology ecosystem, including Salesforce and the broader GTM tech stack.
- Lead the full systems development lifecycle—from solution design and configuration through testing, deployment, and ongoing optimization.
- Design and maintain integrations, APIs, and automations that create a scalable, reliable revenue platform.
- Establish best practices for release management, change control, documentation, and system governance.
Data Architecture & Quality
- Design and maintain the data architecture that powers our revenue systems and reporting.
- Establish data governance, validation, and quality standards to ensure a trusted source of truth.
- Partner with BI and analytics teams to deliver accurate, scalable reporting across the customer lifecycle.
AI & Automation
- Identify and implement AI-powered tools and automation that improve productivity and reduce manual work.
- Build intelligent workflows that enable self-service, proactive monitoring, and operational efficiency.
- Evaluate emerging AI capabilities across Salesforce and the GTM technology landscape.
Platform Ownership
- Serve as the technical owner for Salesforce and the revenue systems environment, including security, permissions, system health, and administration.
- Optimize platform performance and troubleshoot technical issues across the revenue technology stack.
- Ensure every platform is well configured, documented, and positioned to scale.
Business Partnership & Leadership
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Finance, and Services leaders to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
- Support executive reporting and contribute to broader RevOps strategy and governance.
- Build and lead a high-performing technical systems team as the function grows.
Who you are:
- A hands-on systems builder who thinks in data models, integrations, and architecture — you'd rather build the right system than talk about the right system.
- Deep technical fluency with Salesforce configuration/development and modern GTM technology, with genuine curiosity about applying AI tools to real operational problems.
- A disciplined engineer of process: you default to documentation, testing, and repeatable release practices rather than ad hoc changes.
- Comfortable owning ambiguous technical problems end to end, from requirements through to a working, adopted solution.
- A collaborative communicator who can translate technical work for non-technical stakeholders and build trust across Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success.
- Broader business acumen and comfort operating as a strategic partner to executive leadership.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in Salesforce architecture, systems engineering, Revenue Operations, Sales Operations, or Business Systems.
- Proven experience owning the full systems development lifecycle—from solution design through deployment and ongoing support.
- Strong expertise in Salesforce architecture, configuration, integrations, data modeling, and system governance.
- Hands-on experience implementing AI-powered tools, workflow automation, and modern GTM technologies.
- Experience with Salesforce and the broader revenue tech stack; Salesforce certifications strongly preferred. NetSuite experience is a plus.
- Experience supporting PE- or venture-backed SaaS companies, ideally in the $50M–$150M revenue range.
- Understanding of subscription, usage-based, transactional, and professional services revenue models.
- Strong project management, prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience building executive reporting, leading technical initiatives, or managing a team is a plus.
Compliance & Onboarding
