About the role

The Fungal Greenhouse Assay Senior Research Associate/Scientist will lead fungicide testing efforts as part of a larger project/assay team based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. This position is responsible for designing assays that help to inform decisions on advancement of Invaio’s product concepts from inception to field trials and beyond. This role interacts with multiple functional leaders across the company and influences strategy for product development. You will be part of a growing team with access to state-of-the-art laboratory and greenhouse testing facilities.


What you'll do

  • Design, plan, execute, analyze, and optimize controlled environment assays that inform decisions on product advancement to field trials and further product development
  • Coordinate the efforts of a larger team to standardize and execute assays and deliver actionable results
  • Present results and provide recommendations on next steps and overall strategy
  • Work closely with field development teams in the design of field trials
  • Participate in regular scientific and one-on-one meetings with the broader Invaio R&D team to understand project needs, provide technical insight, and communicate status of ongoing work
  • Write protocols and reports, document results in laboratory notebooks
  • Contribute to a dynamic, exciting culture that embraces teamwork, innovation, and professional development
  • Take an active role in maintaining a neat and safe research environment that includes lab, greenhouse, and office work areas

Qualifications

  • Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in mycology, plant pathology, microbiology (with fungal expertise), plant biology or a related discipline. PhD degree in mycology, plant pathology, microbiology (with fungal expertise), plant biology or a related discipline preferred
  • 3+ years of experience designing in planta testing of fungicides/pesticides for greenhouse, field, and/or other controlled environment trials
  • Experience working with proteins and peptides is desirable
  • Strong communication skills for presentation of plans, strategy, results, and recommendations and ability to cater messages to diverse audiences
  • Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to cross-train with the insecticide testing team
