About the role
Our Research & Development group is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Formulation Scientist to join our Research Triangle Park team. This role focuses on advancing our proprietary technologies for peptides/proteins in agricultural applications. You will lead efforts to develop, characterize, and optimize formulations and analytics. You will support studies from bench to field and contribute to successful formulations for registrational studies and commercialization. You will work cross-functionally with the bioprocessing team, analytical sciences, development project teams, and others to advance our technologies to solve a diverse set of delivery challenges in agriculture.
What you'll do
- Design and optimize peptide formulations
- Examine encapsulation strategies to improve active ingredient efficiency or shelf life
- Develop and implement assays for evaluating functionality, targeting efficiency, and potency of delivery modalities
- Lead and contribute to analytical formulation characterization and stability studies
- Contribute to a dynamic, exciting culture that embraces teamwork and innovation
- Present scientific findings in cross-functional project team meetings, write protocols and reports, and document results in electronic laboratory notebooks
- Lead teams of scientists in the exploration, proof of concept, and development of novel formulations, supporting production processes, delivery system technologies, and concepts for new and registered active ingredients
- Teach and train scientists in the field of formulation science with hands-on experience
- Collaborate with other functions across the company to deliver maximum success, such as analytical R&D, process development, application technology, biology, agronomy, regulatory, operations, and commercial teams
Qualifications (Requirements)
- PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomaterials Science and Engineering, or a related discipline, preferably with 7+ years of experience
- Demonstrated competence in the area of formulation technology with a proven track record of product development, preferably in agriculture
- Experience with peptide/protein biological formulations
- Advanced knowledge of encapsulation technologies
- Strong background in developing diverse agricultural formulations
- Experience with Quality by Design (QbD) for product development
- Hands-on experience operating analytical instruments to characterize formulations
- Knowledge and experience with scaling up agricultural formulations
- Experience working with HTP technology and digital tools
