About the role

We are seeking a Scientist in Molecular Biology to join our Research and Development team in Barcelona, based at the Edificio Eureka within the UAB Campus, home to the recently established Invaio Spain subsidiary.  This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic and international team focused on advancing our proprietary delivery technologies for agricultural applications.


What you'll do

  • Design and implement molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology experiments to evaluate lipid nanoparticle delivery in plants.
  • Contribute to the development and optimization of formulations, including active ingredient encapsulation and purification.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and international teams to transition formulations from lab to greenhouse and field assays.
  • Document experimental procedures and results in electronic laboratory notebooks, and prepare technical reports and presentations.
  • Actively participate in project meetings and communicate progress to team members, project leads, and scientific leadership
  • Contribute to fostering a collaborative and innovative team culture.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in DNA cloning, RNA/DNA/protein extraction, qPCR, western blotting, protein immunoprecipitation, ELISA, and related techniques.
  • Experience in plant pathology and working with plant pathogens, including viruses.
  • Experience with confocal laser scanning microscopy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary industrial environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and scientific presentation skills.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken (minimum C1 level or equivalent).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with CRISPR technologies, plant transformation, in vitro culture, or plant viral vectors.
  • Knowledge of formulation and delivery technologies for small molecules, nucleic acids, or proteins.
  • Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DoE) software.
  • Proficiency in using analytical instrumentation to characterize formulations.
  • Experience with plant handling and greenhouse operations (e.g., Arabidopsis or crop species).
  • Basic skills in data analysis tools (e.g., R or similar).
