Role Overview
IXIS is seeking a Senior Backend Architect to define, design, and scale the backend architecture for our AI-powered data platform. You’ll lead the technical strategy behind our advanced analytics infrastructure, data pipelines, and real-time decisioning systems that power ATLAS.
This is a strategic, hands-on leadership role. You’ll architect highly scalable data services, design streaming pipelines optimized for machine learning workloads, and partner with engineering, product, and data science teams to deliver next-generation AI capabilities to enterprise clients.

Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Platform Strategy
- Architect the core backend systems powering IXIS’s AI-driven analytics platform.
- Define the platform roadmap and establish architectural blueprints optimized for real-time insights, predictive analytics, and ML-driven automation.
- Evaluate trade-offs between serverless, containerized, and event-driven architectures to ensure scalability, cost efficiency, and AI performance.
- Establish platform-wide standards for security, observability, and performance.
AI-Optimized Data Infrastructure
- Design real-time and batch data pipelines leveraging AWS serverless technologies (Lambda, Kinesis, DynamoDB, Redshift, S3).
- Collaborate with data science teams to integrate ML models into production at scale.
- Build systems to ingest, normalize, and process multi-source datasets for downstream AI models and predictive analytics.
- Architect APIs (GraphQL & REST) enabling data socialization and advanced visualization capabilities.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner closely with engineering, product, and data science leaders to translate business problems into AI-powered solutions.
- Mentor engineers and establish best practices for backend architecture, AI integration, and data engineering workflows.
- Lead proofs-of-concept for emerging AI and cloud technologies that enhance the IXIS platform.
Infrastructure & DevOps
- Oversee AWS infrastructure strategy, optimizing for AI performance, cost management, and resilience.
- Implement automated CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and MLOps best practices.
- Ensure strong monitoring, logging, and observability across all backend services.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience, with at least 3+ years leading architecture for large-scale data platforms.
- Proven expertise designing cloud-native, serverless AWS architectures (Lambda, API Gateway, Kinesis, DynamoDB, S3, Redshift, etc.).
- Strong experience building scalable APIs (GraphQL & REST) and high-performance distributed systems.
- 5+ years of Python development (Node.js experience a plus).
- Expertise in SQL & NoSQL schema design for analytical and real-time workloads.
- Experience building streaming and batch ETL pipelines optimized for machine learning and predictive analytics.
- Hands-on experience deploying AI/ML models into production environments (MLOps familiarity a plus).
- Deep understanding of data modeling, feature engineering pipelines, and real-time scoring architectures.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and automated test frameworks for AI-first applications.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Experience integrating Business Intelligence and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or custom React dashboards).
- Familiarity with statistical programming and ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
- Exposure to frontend technologies like React for end-to-end architectural awareness.
- Experience with observability stacks (OpenTelemetry, Datadog, CloudWatch) for AI-driven workloads.
