About Jack Westin
Jack Westin is a leading Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) preparation company which is known for crafting high quality, but free, practice materials. The MCAT tests students on the scientific reasoning skills and scientific knowledge which can be learned during typical undergraduate coursework.
Our Three Principles
As we continue to grow and help students, we are guided by three major principles that we believe are vital to our community.
Attention to quality
We only create courses and practice questions that we would use. That means having the best, first-class teaching content that can possibly exist. We're not satisfied with mediocrity. We don't care about the amount of time or money it takes to get something done right. If it's not perfect, we won't stop until we believe it is. This ethos runs deep within our company.
Excellence in support
We're obsessed with our students. Their well-being and success drives us each day. Great customer service is not an afterthought. It is the most important service we can offer. We understand that our students come from different learning backgrounds. It's our mission to ensure that each one has an amazing experience.
Learn from anywhere at anytime
We are committed to building the future of education on the internet so that it is easily accessible to all students from around the world. Our dedication is to all students who want to learn, regardless of their pace, and no matter what time of the day it is.
Now Hiring: Two Video Editors
Jack Westin is a leading MCAT preparation company helping pre-med students around the world get into medical school. Our content reaches a huge audience across YouTube long-form videos, the Jack Westin MCAT Podcast, and short-form video on YouTube Shorts, Instagram, and TikTok.
We are publishing almost every day, and our editing team works directly with English-speaking on-camera creators (hosts, tutors, and guests). We are hiring TWO video editors to join the team:
- Role 1 — Senior Video Editor & Filmmaking Advisor (YouTube long-form & podcast)
- Role 2 — Fast-Turnaround Editor (Shorts, Reels, TikTok, daily content)
Both roles are remote, full-time, and require strong English communication, deep creative ownership, and the ability to take raw footage from creators and deliver stylish, ready-to-post final cuts.
- 100% remote, full-time positions
- $2,000–$3,000/month (depending on experience)
Role 1 — Senior Video Editor & Filmmaking Advisor
Focus: YouTube long-form videos, the Jack Westin MCAT Podcast (video + audio), and creative direction for the wider video team.
About the role
This is a senior, creative-led role. You are not just cutting clips — you are shaping how Jack Westin looks and sounds on YouTube. You will advise our on-camera creators on framing, lighting, audio, pacing, and storytelling before they ever hit record, and then turn the raw footage they send you into polished, high-retention videos.
You will collaborate closely (in English, live on calls and async) with hosts, tutors, and guests, and you will set the bar for editing quality across the brand.
What you will do
- Edit long-form YouTube videos and full podcast episodes from raw footage to publish-ready cuts, including color, sound mix, music, B-roll, motion graphics, and on-screen text.
- Advise creators on filmmaking before the shoot: camera setup, framing, lighting, microphone placement, location, wardrobe, and pacing of delivery.
- Develop and protect the Jack Westin visual identity — title cards, lower thirds, transitions, thumbnail style, B-roll language, and motion design system.
- Build retention: structure videos for strong hooks, tight pacing, pattern interrupts, and clear chapter flow, with YouTube analytics in mind.
- Own transcription and captioning quality for accessibility and SEO, and use transcripts to drive smarter edits and pull-quotes.
- Cut podcast episodes for both YouTube (multi-cam, B-roll, graphics) and audio platforms (Spotify, Apple Podcasts), and pull clip highlights for short-form.
- Give feedback to the Fast-Turnaround Editor (Role 2) to keep shorts on-brand and consistent with the main channel.
- Maintain organized project files, version control, asset libraries, and a clean handoff process to the publishing team.
Who You Are
- 5+ years editing professional YouTube and/or podcast content, with a portfolio that shows long-form retention work (not just highlight reels).
- Expert in Adobe Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve, plus After Effects for motion graphics. Comfortable with color grading, audio cleanup, and multi-cam editing.
- Strong filmmaking instincts: you can look at a setup and immediately spot the lighting, framing, or audio problem.
- Fluent, confident English — written and spoken — and comfortable jumping on calls with native English-speaking creators to give and receive creative direction.
- Genuinely creative: you bring ideas, references, and opinions, not just execution.
- Organized and deadline-driven. You can hold quality high while publishing on a near-daily cadence
How we will know it is working
- Long-form videos are shipping on schedule with consistently improving watch time and retention.
- On-camera creators report that filmmaking feedback is clear, kind, and easy to apply.
- The brand looks unmistakably like Jack Westin across every long-form upload.
Role 2 — Fast-Turnaround Video Editor (Shorts, Reels & Daily Content)
Focus: High-volume short-form video for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and TikTok, plus quick-turn supporting edits across the brand.
About the role
This role is for an editor who is fast, sharp, and creative under pressure. Jack Westin publishes short-form content nearly every day, and you will be the engine behind it. You will take raw clips, podcast cutdowns, and creator-shot footage and turn them into scroll-stopping, stylish edits that are ready to post.
You will work closely with the Senior Video Editor (Role 1) to keep everything on-brand, and directly with our English-speaking creators to coordinate footage and ideas.
What you will do
- Edit a high volume of short-form videos (YouTube Shorts, Reels, TikTok) — typically 60 seconds or less — with hook-first pacing, snappy cuts, captions, and sound design.
- Mine long-form videos and podcast episodes for clip-worthy moments and turn them into self-contained shorts.
- Add accurate, well-styled captions and transcriptions — short-form on social is mostly watched on mute.
- Suggest filming ideas, hooks, and angles to creators before they record, so the raw footage is built to perform.
- Stay on top of trends: audio, formats, transitions, and emerging short-form styles — and adapt them to MCAT and pre-med content.
- Coordinate directly with English-speaking creators via Slack/Notion/Loom for raw files, revisions, and approvals.
- Keep a clean asset and project structure so anything you ship can be reused, repurposed, or revised quickly.
Who You Are
- 2+ years editing short-form social video with a portfolio of high-performing Shorts, Reels, and/or TikToks.
- Genuinely fast. You can edit a polished 30–60 second short in a few hours without dropping quality.
- Strong in Premiere Pro, CapCut, or DaVinci Resolve, with comfortable use of After
- Effects or motion templates for text and graphics.
- Great taste in pacing, music, sound effects, and captions. You know exactly when a cut feels one frame too long.
- Fluent English — you can hop on a quick call with a creator, understand their idea, and pitch back a sharper version.
- Creative and proactive: you suggest ideas, hooks, and formats — not just execute briefs.
How we will know it is working
- Shorts ship on a near-daily cadence with consistent quality.
- Average views, watch time, and follower growth on short-form platforms trend up.
- Creators feel supported, not bottlenecked, by the editing process.
What both roles share
- Remote, full-time collaboration with a creative, English-speaking team.
- Tight collaboration with on-camera creators — you will give creative input, not just take orders.
- A near-daily publishing rhythm across YouTube, podcast, and short-form platforms.
- Ownership of your craft: editing, filmmaking guidance, transcription quality, and final delivery.
- Clear creative direction from the Jack Westin brand and analytics-driven feedback on what is working.
