Software Engineer (DevOps Integrations)
Role Overview
As a Software Engineer on our DevOps Integrations team, you'll design and build user-centric tooling that empowers development teams worldwide. You'll be responsible for architecting and coding complex integrations across our DevSecOps toolchain, driving security and efficiency into every stage of the software delivery lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Plugin Development & SupportArchitect, implement, and maintain Gradle, Maven, npm, and PyPI plugins for SBOM collection and SCA scanning.
- Collaborate with security engineers to evolve plugin feature sets and ensure robust error handling and observability.
Microservices & APIs - Design, develop, and support RESTful microservices in Java 17 (and occasionally Go) to expose DevSecOps capabilities.
- Package and deploy services to OpenShift/Kubernetes clusters, ensuring scalability and high availability.
- DevSecOps Toolchain Integration
- Integrate with and extend APIs for Synopsys BlackDuck, Snyk, OWASP Dependency-Track, JFrog Artifactory, HashiCorp Vault/CyberArk, and more.
- Drive continuous improvement of our CI pipelines (Jenkins, TeamCity, Tekton), embedding security "shift-left" practices.
Developer Enablement & Support - Partner with internal engineering teams across time zones to onboard and troubleshoot integrations.
- Produce clear, user-focused documentation, sample code, and run regular "office hours" to drive adoption.
- Continuous Learning
- Stay current on containerization, cloud-native patterns, and emerging DevSecOps best practices.
- Propose and prototype enhancements to tooling, workflows, and our overall security posture.
Required Skills & Experience
- Software Engineering
- 5+ years in web-based Java development (Java 8+), including build tool/plugin authoring.
- Strong API design skills with experience in Java 17; familiarity with Go is a plus.
- DevSecOps Concepts
- Deep understanding of "Shift Left," SCA, SAST, SBOM, and secure SDLC principles.
- Containerization & Linux
- Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
- Comfort scripting in Bash on Linux-based environments.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Proven ability to gather requirements, document solutions, and deliver polished demos to global teams.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Hands-on experience with Java frameworks (Spring Boot, Quarkus, Micronaut).
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, or Python for automation and tooling.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
- Background in cybersecurity or as a DevOps/DevSecOps engineer.
- Familiarity with uDeploy, Bitbucket pipelines, or HashiCorp Vault/CyberArk integrations.
