Java Engineer (Full Stack)

Location: Remote in Poland or Kazakhstan

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using Java to process and manage large volumes of data.
• Optimize data pipelines and services for scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to support reporting, analytics, and decision-making.
• Ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to best practices in a high-stakes banking environment.
• Integrate with various data platforms and databases (both SQL and NoSQL).
• Participate in code reviews, design sessions, and system architecture discussions.
• Support production systems and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in Java development (Java 8 or later).
• Strong understanding of multithreading, concurrency, and memory management.
• Solid experience working with large data sets and distributed systems.
• Proficiency in working with Big Data tools and technologies (e.g., Kafka, Spark, Hadoop, etc.).
• Experience designing scalable APIs and microservices.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Strong knowledge of SQL and data modeling.

Nice to Have

• Experience with ClickHouse or similar columnar databases.
• Exposure to event-driven architectures.
• Background in financial services or regulated industries.
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
