Backend Engineer (GraphQL / TypeScript)

We are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and building scalable backend systems, developing high-performance APIs, and improving overall system architecture. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in GraphQL, Apollo, TypeScript, and backend architecture principles, with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs

• Build and optimize GraphQL APIs 

• Architect robust backend systems with a focus on scalability, security, and performance

• Collaborate closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested TypeScript code

• Improve system reliability, monitoring, and backend performance

• Participate in technical discussions, code reviews, and architectural decisions

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex backend and database-related issues

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience with GraphQL and Apollo
• Excellent knowledge of TypeScript

• Solid understanding of backend architecture and distributed systems

• Experience designing scalable APIs and backend services

• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

• Experience working in agile development environments

• Strong knowledge working with AWS or GCP
• Experience using Claude Code and AI-assisted coding tools to support software development workflows, including skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience optimizing PostgreSQL and DynamoDB
• Knowledge of Ruby on Rails
• Familiarity with performance tuning and database scaling
