About the role
The Head of Technology is an executive leader responsible for overseeing the technology infrastructure, engineering and platform of our organization reporting directly to the CEO. This includes technical strategy, development, operations, security, and maintenance, with a focus on driving innovation, scalability, and efficiency across all technology systems. The Head of Technology will collaborate closely with other departments to align technology with business goals. Key duties include defining the technology roadmap, managing platform and data architecture, overseeing security and compliance programs, leading senior technology leaders, ensuring system performance, and staying abreast of emerging technologies.
Eastern and Central time zones strongly preferred.
What you'll do
Executive Leadership:
- Lead the development and implementation of the organization's overall technology strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and goals.
- Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to the overall strategic direction of the organization.
- Guide and influence technology decisions across the executive team, ensuring that all technical initiatives align with the organization's strategic vision and best practices.
Innovation and Digital Transformation:
- Drive innovation and digital transformation initiatives to enhance the organization's competitive edge and operational efficiency.
- Identify and evaluate emerging technologies to determine their potential impact on the organization and integrate them into the technology roadmap.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Engage with key stakeholders, including the board of directors, to communicate technology strategies, progress, and outcomes.
- Foster strong relationships with external partners, vendors, and industry leaders to leverage best practices and drive collaborative initiatives.
Risk Management and Compliance:
- Oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive risk management and compliance programs to ensure the security and integrity of the organization's technology infrastructure.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, SOC 2, and other relevant frameworks.
Financial Oversight:
- Manage the technology budget, including capital and operational expenditures, to ensure efficient allocation of resources and alignment with strategic priorities.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency improvements within the technology function.
- Manage R&D credits.
Talent Development:
- Champion a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the technology team.
- Implement programs to attract, retain, and develop top talent, ensuring the organization has the skills and capabilities needed to achieve its strategic objectives.
Team Leadership:
- Develop internal and external team KPIs and OKRs.
- Maintain metrics related to engineering, BI and analytics, systems operations, and security for consumption by other Tuesday Health teams.
- Manage and mentor senior technology leaders, including a VP of Engineering, Director of Infrastructure and Security, Platform Manager and IT Service Desk.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation within the technology team.
- Recruit and develop top talent to support the platform's growth.
- Manage external partner and vendor relationships.
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives.
- Define the long-term vision for the platform architecture and technology stack.
- Identify opportunities for technology innovation and improvement to enhance platform capabilities.
Platform Development and Management:
- Evaluate build vs. buy scenarios for features and components.
- Collaborate with Product on the design, development, and implementation of new platform features and functionalities.
- Oversee the ongoing maintenance, updates, and upgrades of existing platform systems.
- Ensure platform stability, scalability, and performance across different environments.
Security Operations and Compliance:
- Serve as designated HIPAA and SOC 2 compliance officer.
- Maintain and operationalize best security practices in accordance with HIPAA and SOC 2 Type 2 best practices.
- Establish robust monitoring systems to track platform performance, identify potential issues, and ensure timely resolution.
- Oversee platform security measures to protect sensitive data and prevent cyber threats.
- Manage platform capacity planning to accommodate future growth and demand.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Manage and align the engineering roadmap to reflect product roadmaps.
- Work closely with product management team to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Communicate technology updates and roadmaps effectively to key stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Proven track record of leading technology strategy and execution at the executive level, with at least 10 years of experience in senior leadership roles.
- Expertise in driving digital transformation initiatives and integrating emerging technologies to enhance organizational capabilities.
- Experience with technical and business process engineering.
- Previous hands-on experience in software development and IT systems administration.
- Experience with data engineering and data management.
- Working knowledge in machine learning and leading data engineering, and AI teams.
- IT security compliance experience and healthcare compliance experience desired.
