Root Insurance

Product Design Intern – Loyalty Program Collaboration

Root was founded on the belief that car insurance is broken, and we set out to change it. We’re harnessing the power of technology to revolutionize this archaic, complicated industry. Using machine learning and mobile telematic platforms, we’ve built one of the most innovative insurtech companies in the world.

The Opportunity

Root’s 11-week Product Designer Internship offers the chance to shape a new customer loyalty program. This role will collaborate closely with a UX Researcher to advance early design concepts, validate ideas, and test experiences that drive customer retention. Interns will explore competitive landscapes, translate research into design opportunities, and create prototypes that bring a loyalty program vision to life.

Root is a “work where it works best” company. This means we will support you working in whatever location that works best for you across the US.

Salary Range: $23 - $35/hr
Internship dates: June 2026 – August 2026
Please Note: We are unable to do OPT and CPT work authorizations

  • Familiarity with UX research methods and applying them to design solutions
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with attention to detail
