The Opportunity


As the Lead CRM Technologist, you will be the technical backbone of Root's customer communication strategy, with primary ownership of our Braze platform and related marketing technologies. This role combines technical expertise with strategic guidance to ensure Root's CRM capabilities scale effectively to support our ambitious growth goals.

You'll play a critical role in establishing best practices, building technical infrastructure, and optimizing performance of our email and SMS communications, with particular emphasis on partnership-related campaigns. Salary Range: $110,000 - $126,000 (Bonus & LTI eligible)

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Serve as the primary technical owner of Root's Braze platform, including architecture, configuration, and optimization
  • Design and implement email/SMS infrastructure to support marketing initiatives across multiple channels
  • Develop technical best practices for customer communications to ensure deliverability, performance, and compliance
  • Create and maintain documentation for CRM platforms and processes
  • Work with our engineering teams to design automated workflows, templates, and reusable components to improve marketing efficiency
  • Partner with data teams to design and implement customer segmentation strategies
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate CRM platforms with Root's broader technology ecosystem
  • Provide technical guidance on complex marketing campaigns, particularly for Tier 1 partnerships
  • Monitor and optimize email/SMS deliverability and performance metrics
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions to ensure campaign success
  • Evaluate and recommend new marketing technologies to enhance Root's capabilities

What You Will Need to Succeed

  • 5+ years of experience in marketing technology or related technical roles
  • Deep expertise with Braze or similar enterprise CRM platforms
  • Strong technical understanding of email and SMS infrastructure, deliverability, and best practices
  • Experience designing and implementing complex marketing automation workflows
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for email development
  • Knowledge of API integrations and data management for marketing platforms
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret and act on performance data
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments
