Accounting Reconciliations Manager

The Opportunity


Root is looking for an Accounting Manager to own the enterprise-wide reconciliation framework, serving as a key point person ensuring accuracy and efficiency across Root’s financial ecosystem.  In addition to overseeing the reconciliations, in this role, you’ll partner with the Director of Accounting Operations, CFO team members,  and non-accounting team members to drive strategic finance transformation initiatives, improve financial controls, and implement process enhancements. The right candidate will have experience with account reconciliations, continuous improvement and thrives in a fast-paced, complex, and growing accounting environment.

Salary Range: $105,500 - $129,000 (STI & LTI Eligible)


How You Will Make An Impact

  • Manage and oversee the monthly reconciliation process across a wide breadth of complex accounts, including deferred acquisition costs, cash transactions, fixed assets, leases, investments, and many others.
  • Enable accurate and timely financial reporting, including periodic SEC and statutory filings.
  • Develop and maintain a uniform reconciliation template and framework.
  • Improve current reconciliation processes and advise teams of up-stream process improvements that would enable reconciliation improvement and automation.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with auditors and other third-party vendors.
  • Lead a global team of accounting staff, ensuring strong training, clear process adherence, and performance development to foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Lead and participate in strategic financial projects such as process automation.
  • Identify and document key controls.
  • Various ad hoc projects as needed.

What You Will Need To Succeed

  • 3-5 years of relevant accounting and/or finance experience.
  • Exposure to property and casualty insurance accounting or other highly regulated industries preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; current pursuit of CPA designation a plus.
  • Exceptional root cause analysis and variance resolution skills.
  • Proven ability to design and implement a standardized reconciliation framework to build scalable processes.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, especially with a global workforce.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to tailor it to a wide range of audiences.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products and reconciliation systems like FloQast.
  • Approaches problems with an open mind.
  • Great attention to detail.
