Job Title: Program Advocate for Women 

Reports To: Director of Programming 

Shift: 1st 9:00AM-5:00PM, work two weekends a month

General Description: 

The Kalamazoo Gospel Ministries is a privately funded 501(c)3 non-profit, evangelical Christian ministry. Our designated purpose is religious, and we are a Christ-centered ministry which is dedicated to sharing the Gospel and helping the homeless and impoverished. We consider every position to be essential in the fulfillment of our ministry and statement of purpose. As such, each employee must have a relationship with Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord. 

 

Essential Functions: 

  • As a member of staff, uphold, promote, and encourage, in word and deed, desired organizational culture and values; purposefully seek to establish and maintain a culture that is based on grace and affirms and advances KGM’s vision and purpose. 
  • Build relationships with KGM guests. 
  • Perform one-on-one relational discipleship and biblical counseling with assigned guests, which will produce growth and spiritual maturity. 
  • Provide crisis intervention and case management assistance for assigned guests and other guests as needed. 
  • Teach class(es) within the long-term program.  
  • Communicate the expectations and guidelines of the long-term program to assigned guests and hold them accountable to the standard. 
  • Model a distinctive Christian walk which evidences one’s personal relationship with God, liberated through Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit. 
  • Help assigned guests identify and achieve an individualized pathway which includes physical health, mental health, social, emotional, employment, and spiritual needs. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: 

  • Highly ethical with the ability to make smart, timely decisions. 
  • Practical knowledge of the Bible. 
  • Ability to be able to maintain calm in tense situations and circumstances. 
  • Be able and willing to share the Gospel and participate in all ministry activities of Kalamazoo Gospel Ministries. 
  • Experience in Women’s Ministry and or Case Management preferred

Working Conditions/Physical Factors: 

Occasionally = 1%-33%; Frequently = 34%-66%; Continuously = 67%-100% 

  • Work will predominately require individual to work in a typical office environment.

Education/Experience and/or Certification: 

  • Prefer a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2-5 years’ experience with growing responsibilities. 
  • Minimum 2 years responsibility in a leadership role 
  • At least two years of experience in gospel rescue mission ministry with exposure to homelessness, social services, mental health needs, and substance abuse recovery. 
  • Preference would be to possess Biblical Counseling Certification (IABC); however, training and certification must be achieved once hired. 


The pay range for this role is:

17.50 - 17.50 USD per hour (Kalamazoo Gospel Mission)
