Job Description 

 

Information Technology Internship 

Department: Operations & Information Technology (IT) 

Reports to: Director of Operations & IT 

Part-Time / Unpaid 

Location: Alpharetta 

 

Position Summary: 

This is an internship designed to provide college credit and/or hands-on experience in information technology. The IT intern supports the IT department by assisting with troubleshooting, maintaining hardware and software, responding to help desk requests, and ensuring smooth day-to-day technology operations. The intern will gain exposure to network management, system security, and user support in a professional environment. 

 

Essential Duties: 

  • Assist IT staff in day-to-day technical support for employees. 
  • Help maintain and troubleshoot computers, printers, and other office equipment. 
  • Provide support for hardware, software, and network issues. 
  • Install and configure computer systems and applications. 
  • Assist in maintaining IT asset inventory and proper documentation. 
  • Support the on boarding process by preparing technology and accounts for new users. 
  • Help monitor system backups, updates, and security protocols. 
  • Assist in setting up conference calls, projectors, and other technology for meetings. 
  • Provide excellent customer service by responding to staff IT requests promptly. 
  • Perform clerical and organizational functions such as filing IT records and documentation. 
  • Research technology solutions and make recommendations to IT staff. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements: 

  • Actively enrolled in any applicable major or a certification program at an accredited college. 
  • Demonstrated eagerness to learn and gain knowledge in information technology. 

 

Skills & Knowledge Required: 

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail 
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and networking concepts 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration tools 
  • Fluency in English reading, writing, speaking, and listening 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and provide clear communication to non-technical users 
  • Strong organizational skills and a willingness to learn 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and data security 

Preferred Skills include: 

  • Familiarity with Windows and Mac operating systems 
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, etc.) 
  • Basic knowledge of cyber security principles 
  • Spanish-speaking ability a plus

Physical Demands:   

  • Remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time and be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

  • Operate a computer and other office productivity machinery and technology, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer and must have the ability to use hands to handle, control or feel objects or controls and reach with hands and arms. 
  • Constantly communicate and exchange correct information with team members, partners, and other stakeholders effectively. 
  • Read/comprehend, communicate clearly orally and in writing, reasoning and analytical abilities, and mental flexibility. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus to compare and distinguish accounting and administrative data.   
  • Hearing ability to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking level with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discrimination in sound. 

 

Regular Work Environment:   

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be regularly working in a typical interior/office work environment.   
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
