Position Overview 

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Welder to join our heavy manufacturing team. You will play a key role in fabricating custom trailer components, ensuring weld quality, and maintaining production efficiency in a fast-paced shop environment. You will be responsible for various types of weld preparation, welding, and weld finishing operations to manufacture products to the drawings and specifications.  


Key Responsibilities 

  • Perform structural welding on heavy gauge steel using GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW processes. 
  • Lay out and cut complex subassemblies and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings. 
  • Fit and complete final welds and/or multi-pass welds in compliance with AWS D1.1 welding codes. 
  • Position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools. 
  • Conduct routine inspection of welds and participate in quality assurance protocols by maintaining complete required records. 
  • Work collaboratively with production teams to meet project timelines. 
  • Complete other duties as required including helping to train other employees as needed on new tasks 
  • Understand and comply with all PPE requirements at all times, work safely every day and encourage all team members to do the same   
  • Provide training and assistance to other employees as assigned and willing to cross train   

  

Qualifications & Certifications 

Required: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing or structural fabrication environment. 
  • Flux or Metal Core welding experience highly preferred. 
  • Ability to accurately measure within specified tolerances highly preferred. 
  • Ability to read blueprints, layouts, schematics, or work orders highly preferred. 
  • A high level of dependability, a great attitude, and an ability to work well with a team towards achieving a common goal. 
  • Basic maintenance of equipment 
  • Valid driver’s license (required)  
  • Strong Team Player 

Preferred: 

  • Previous experience with trailer manufacturing or related products is highly desired but not required. 
  • Trade school, college, weld experience, or a combination 
  • CWI credentials a strong plus (additional compensation may be provided) 
  • AWS Certified Welder (CW) – D1.1 (Structural Steel) focus
