About the role


Join our innovative team at Kinetic as we push the boundaries of technology in computer vision and robotics! We are seeking a talented Computer Vision Engineering Intern with familiarity in sensor calibration, pose estimation, and numeric optimization to enhance our project capabilities in developing cutting-edge solutions.


This is an on-site role at our HQ in Santa Ana, CA.


We are looking for a qualified candidate with immediate availability!


What You’ll Work On:


As an intern on our perception and calibration team, you’ll contribute to cutting-edge projects that combine computer vision, robotics, and real-time systems. This is a hands-on opportunity to learn from experienced engineers while making a real impact.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and testing of algorithms for calibrating camera and lidar sensors.
  • Contribute to tools that help monitor the accuracy and health of our sensor systems.
  • Help prototype new techniques for our novel virtual projection system.
  • Work closely with robotics and perception engineers to bring ideas into real-world applications.
  • Support the optimization of existing code for improved performance.
  • Write clean, maintainable Python and C++ code with guidance and mentorship.
  • Participate in design discussions, sprint planning, and system testing alongside the engineering team.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Coursework or project experience in computer vision, robotics, or machine learning.
  • Familiarity with Python or C++ programming.
  • Interest in geometric vision and algorithm development.
  • Eagerness to learn, collaborate, and grow in a fast-paced technical environment.

Bonus Points:

  • Exposure to ROS / ROS2 or real-time systems through coursework or side projects.
  • Experience with Git, Docker, or similar development tools.
  • Previous involvement in a research lab or technical project team is a plus.
