Kraken Robotics is currently recruiting for an Electronics Technologist to join our Mount Pearl, Newfoundland Office.


Kraken is seeking an Electronics Technologist to join our fast-growing Production team. Our Technologists work with sensitive electronics in a clean workshop environment, assembling a variety of Kraken product lines, including high resolution sonar (SAS) and underwater vehicles (KATFISH).The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for quality and detail, as they will be responsible for building assemblies designed to function in some of our world’s most challenging terrain, our ocean depths. 


The successful applicant will have an opportunity to work with cutting edge technology, located in the Kraken Headquarters in Mount Pearl, NL.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assembly of electrical harnesses and cables
  • Assembly of electronic chassis and electrical enclosures 
  • Mechanical assembly of Kraken products 
  • Rackmount equipment set up and configuration
  • Support testing of various products within production
  • Creating production documentation such as build logs, work instructions and inspection reports 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma in Engineering Technology, or other Technical Diploma with experience
  • Electronics assembly and troubleshooting experience
  • Experience wire splicing/soldering
  • Familiarity using engineering drawings and technical documentation 
  • Experience in the installation and connection methods of electrical equipment
  • Demonstrated technical skills along with a proven track record for success
  • Experience in a shop environment, specifically with hand tools
  • Familiarity with proper shop safety practices
  • Experience in the use and maintenance of electrical test equipment
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • High degree of organization, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Appreciation of other engineering disciplines (mechanical and software)
  • Experience with any of the following would be considered an asset:
    1. Experience installing and operating electronics equipment in an ocean environment
    2. Experience with sonar systems and acoustic signal processing
    3. Experience testing and troubleshooting software systems
    4. Experience configuring and installing motor drives 
    5. Experience in through hole and surface mount soldering
    6. Experience with quality assurance and quality control procedures (QA & QC)
    7. Experience with computer networking
