About the Position:
As the Venue Operations Manager at Kraken Baltimore, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations and management of the event space within our organization located in downtown Baltimore at Power Plant Live. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of our events, managing facility operations, coordinating event logistics, and delivering exceptional customer service. This position requires a strong background in event management, excellent organizational and leadership skills, and a customer-centric mindset.

Responsibilities:
1. Venue Operations and Maintenance:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of event space, ensuring all areas are well-maintained, clean, and presentable at all times.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures for venue operations, including opening and closing protocols, facility maintenance, and safety procedures.
- Coordinate with maintenance staff and external vendors to address facility repairs, maintenance, and equipment servicing.
- Manage inventory of venue supplies, equipment, and furniture, ensuring availability and proper upkeep.
2. Event Logistics and Coordination:
- Serve as the main point of contact for local organizations and event organizers, assisting them in planning and executing successful events.
- Program the venue with internal and external events. Create a full calendar of events to keep the venue active.
- Coordinate event logistics, including load-in, setup, tear-down, and load-out schedules.
- Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and contractors to ensure smooth execution of events, addressing any logistical challenges that arise.
- Conduct site visits with clients to assess event space requirements and provide guidance on layout, technical specifications, and other logistical considerations.
- Manage permit process and ensure clients have required documentation, applications and approvals.
3. Staff Management and Training:
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of event / operations crew.
- Assign and delegate tasks to staff members, ensuring proper coverage for events and efficient operations.
- Provide ongoing training, coaching, and feedback to staff members to enhance their skills and improve overall performance.
- Foster a positive work environment, encouraging teamwork, collaboration, and a customer-centric approach among the event operations team.
4. Customer Service and Client Relations:
- Ensure exceptional customer service is delivered to clients and guests, promptly addressing inquiries, concerns, and requests.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and industry partners, seeking opportunities for collaboration and business growth.
- Collaborate with the sales team to generate repeat business and referrals through client satisfaction and positive experiences.
- Conduct post-event evaluations and gather feedback to continuously improve event space operations and enhance customer satisfaction.
5. Health and Safety Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations, fire codes, and accessibility standards.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and emergency procedures to ensure the well-being of crew, clients, and guests.
- Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments of venue to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and trends related to event space operations, health, and safety protocols.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in event management, hospitality, facility management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
-Proficiency using software/systems used for reservations, customer relationship management, event management, and facility management
- Experience with effective time management, project management, calendaring and scheduling.
- Proven experience in event space operations, venue management, or facility management.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-centric mindset and a strong focus on delivering exceptional service.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and risk management practices in event spaces.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by event schedules. This is an on-site position.
