The Senior Accountant role is the primary management role of the general ledger (GL) and a champion of internal control processes. Along with a proven ability to manage all aspects of the GL, the ideal candidate excels in financial reporting and reconciliation processes. ERP experience is essential, as the integration of various accounting platforms is necessary to ensure the accuracy of financial data and to support the organization’s business objectives. The successful candidate will possess 5 years of accounting experience, is highly skilled and detail-oriented with extensive GL management experience.  

Based at our New Orleans Headquarters 5 days a week, this role reports to the Controller

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the full cycle of the General Ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations and monthly close activities.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP or IFRS.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Review and assist with the accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions as they relate to the GL.
  • Analyze financial data and generate reports to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax filings, audits, and other regulatory compliance activities.
  • Maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial records.
  • Perform daily level treasury functions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Leverage ERP systems to streamline accounting processes and ensure the integrity of financial data.
  • Stay up to date with changes in accounting standards and regulations, providing guidance to the team as needed.
  • Manage major contracts controls and reconciliations.
  • Manage daily cash controls process.
  • Assist Controller with special projects and ad-hoc financial analysis as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 5+ years of accounting experience with a focus on General Ledger management.
  • Strong, direct experience with Netsuite or comparable ERP system (e.g., SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial software tools
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities & assist subledger colleagues with goal completion
  • Enjoys communicating across multiple departments to form partnerships, provide support and meet deadlines
  • Background working with multi-site retail or consumer goods companies
  • Bachelor of Accounting or related degree.  
  • CPA a plus
