Unreal Engine 5 Developer

Who we are

Latent AI is a well-funded spinout from SRI International, based on years of DARPA research.  We design advanced, yet easy to use, software developer tools that take the hard work out of embedding complex AI models into lean edge devices.  We transform the way developers train AI for the edge, enabling rapid AI deployment, speed to market and scalability.  Our patented Adaptive AI™ technology can be used on any edge hardware, framework, OS or architecture -- and gives us a true competitive market advantage. We are on contract with various services within DoD and are on track to achieve 6x growth this year.

Latent AI is backed by Future Ventures, Blackhorn Ventures, Auto Tech Ventures, Booz Allen Hamilton,  Lockheed Martin, Standard Investments, Pegasus Tech Ventures, and SRI International.

What we do

Latent AI enables creation of more robust, efficient, and agile edge applications that improve user adoption and mission impact. Our current product mission is simplifying and accelerating traditional AI workflows from model training and optimization to deployment and support. Our flagship product, the Latent AI Efficient Inference Platform™ (LEIP), is a unified SDK built for machine learning engineers and AI software developers. Our solutions are being used in more places than ever before including manufacturing automation, predictive maintenance, process control, consumer electronics, and defense and aerospace applications. And we are just getting started.

Who we're looking for

We are looking for a talented and experienced Unreal Engine 5 Developer to provide contract work with our team. You will be responsible for creating immersive, realistic virtual environments that feature highly functional aerial and ground vehicles. Your work will involve both artistic and technical implementation, using Unreal's powerful tools to bring complex simulations to life.

What you’ll do

  • Design and build detailed, realistic landscapes for both aerial and ground vehicles, including creating and placing assets such as foliage, rocks, and buildings.
  • Develop robust Blueprint scripts to control autonomous and player-controlled aerial and ground vehicles, including navigation along predefined paths.
  • Develop and manage interfaces for communication between the Unreal Engine application and external software systems using Remote Procedure Calls (RPC).
  • Create systems for procedurally generated content, including landscapes and vehicles, to enable the creation of vast and varied environments.
  • Implement and debug Blueprint logic for automated vehicle interactions, such as automated firing or object interaction.
  • Collaborate with designers, artists, and other engineers to define and execute project goals.
  • Optimize environment and vehicle performance for seamless and engaging experiences

How we decide

An ideal candidate will be someone

  • Having expert-level knowledge of Unreal Engine 5, including its Blueprint visual scripting system and C++ integration, to create game levels that run faster than real time.
  • Proven experience designing and building high-fidelity, realistic landscapes and worlds using Unreal's landscape tools, lighting, and asset workflows
  • Demonstrated ability to develop complex vehicle control logic in Blueprint, including pathfinding, animation, and AI behavior.
  • Experience with procedural generation techniques for creating landscapes and other assets.
  • Strong background in creating gameplay mechanics, including automated and interactive systems for vehicle behavior.
  • Hands-on experience with inter-process communication, specifically interfacing with external software using RPC.
  • Excellent debugging and optimization skills to ensure project stability and performance.
  • Strong ability to collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams and articulate technical concepts clearly.
  • Experience with a range of vehicle types, including realistic physics simulations for both aerial and ground vehicles.
  • A portfolio showcasing relevant projects built in Unreal Engine.
  • Knowledge of version control systems like Git.
  • US Citizens/Green Card Holders are preferred.
