Technical Lead - Workspace Intelligence

LawVu’s Product & Engineering team is seeking a Technical Lead to spearhead the design and development of robust AI and Search solutions. In this role, you’ll be expected to be on the tools, design for change and build robust solutions. You will lead a talented engineering team, ensuring we create scalable, high-quality systems that power our innovative platform. This role offers the opportunity to implement impactful changes in a fast-growing legal tech scale-up, making a real difference in how legal teams operate


You will work closely with the Engineering Manager, Principal Engineer, Product Manager and the broader product engineering team to elevate our AI and Search offerings and meet the demands of a rapidly growing market.

 

What you’ll do…

  • Lead by Example: Drive the design and implementation of scalable, efficient back-end systems tailored for AI applications, while actively contributing code.
  • Technical Architecture: Define and oversee the technical architecture and system design, ensuring alignment with AI integration and best practices.
  • Engineering Excellence: Foster a culture of engineering excellence, mentoring team members to achieve their full potential and instilling best practices across the team.
  • Security & Compliance: Maintain and improve strict security protocols for our multi-tenant environment, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, engineers, and engineering leadership to develop and execute product and engineering roadmaps.
  • Innovation: Stay abreast of advancements in AI technologies, specifically in areas such as Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), Vector Databases and Search, to inform product development.
  • Product Discovery: Engage with product teams and customers during product discovery phases to ensure alignment with market needs.


What you’ll bring…


  • Experience: 8+ years of experience designing, building, and supporting large-scale systems, with a focus on AI or machine learning applications.
  • Technical Skills: Hands-on coding expertise, particularly expertise in Microsoft .NET stack. Bonus if you are passionate about AI frameworks and tools.
  • Architectural Knowledge: Deep understanding of various system architecture paradigms and the ability to pragmatically apply them to real-world scenarios.
  • Agile Methodologies: Comfortable working in an Agile development environment, with a strong focus on iterative development and continuous improvement.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.


Location

The preferred location is Tauranga or Wellington, but other New Zealand locations will be considered for the right person.
