Director, Marketing

For over 30 years, Alder has been a trusted guide for more than 5,000 families across Greater Boston, helping them navigate the aging journey with compassion, clarity, and expert care. Our  life care managers are seasoned social workers and nurses, providing both strategic direction and hands-on support, from coordinating medical care and assessing home safety to attending appointments and facilitating meaningful family conversations.

Deeply rooted in the community, we leverage a broad professional network to connect families with trusted resources and foster collaboration across disciplines. Whether offering occasional consultations or urgent crisis support, we tailor our involvement to meet each individual’s unique needs. At the heart of our work is a simple goal: to help families approach the practical and emotional aspects of aging with confidence.

The Role:

Alder is seeking a strategic and deeply creative Director of Marketing to define, articulate, and amplify Alder’s point of view across all channels. Reporting to our Co-Founders, you will own Alder’s narrative translating clinical expertise, family insight, and market trends into compelling stories that shape a new category in aging, senior care, and healthcare innovation.

This role combines brand strategy, content leadership, and integrated marketing execution. You will oversee all content planning and production, lead thought leadership development, manage owned channels, and partner closely with Growth, Clinical, Operations, and external agencies to deliver high‑impact marketing programs.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the voice of a mission-driven company at the inflection point of launch and scale.

Who you are:

You are both analytical and creative—able to translate insights into clear messaging, produce compelling content across formats, and evaluate channel performance with rigor. You excel at cross‑functional partnership, providing leverage to senior leaders and driving cohesion across marketing, product, and growth initiatives. With deep experience in integrated content marketing for high‑growth brands, you are excited to help shape an emerging category in senior care.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish Alder’s core narrative and messaging architecture across audiences (families, partners, clinicians, advisors).
  • Translate clinical insights, customer stories, and market signals into differentiated, emotionally resonant storytelling.
  • Champion consistent narrative adoption across all marketing, product, sales, and external communications.
  • Own blogs, email newsletters, social publishing, and all long‑form and short‑form content.
  • Build and manage a content calendar that aligns with brand moments, product milestones, and growth initiatives.
  • Drive an efficient, high-quality content production workflow across internal stakeholders, agencies, and freelancers.
  • Develop cornerstone content pieces (reports, whitepapers, POV essays, webinars, briefs) that position Alder as a category-defining leader in aging and care navigation.
  • Mine clinical insights and real family cases (with appropriate privacy considerations) to inform authoritative, trustworthy thought leadership.
  • Partner with Growth leadership to create clarity, leverage, and cohesion across campaigns and channels.
  • Oversee SEO strategy (including contractor management) to ensure content ranks, converts, and compounds.
  • Support sales enablement through creation of collateral, decks, tools, and messaging frameworks.
  • Collaborate on integrated campaigns encompassing organic, paid, brand, content partnerships, and events.
  • Manage content and messaging for events, panels, community activations, and clinical/industry conferences.
  • Ensure consistency of narrative and brand presence across all touch points.

Qualifications:

  • 5-8+ years of marketing experience with significant ownership over content, narrative development, and integrated campaigns.
  • A track record of developing compelling brand storytelling and thought leadership in a complex or mission-driven category (healthcare, consumer services, senior care, wellness, or similar).
  • Experience managing owned channels (email, blog, organic social) and overseeing content workflows end-to-end.
  • Strong understanding of SEO fundamentals and experience managing external SEO partners or agencies.
  • Proven ability to translate insights—clinical, customer, operational—into clear and differentiated messaging.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills; a natural editor and storyteller.
  • Strong project management and operational rigor.

Alder is committed to bringing together humans from different backgrounds and perspectives and providing employees with a safe and welcoming work environment free of discrimination and harassment. We strive to create a diverse & inclusive environment where everyone can thrive, feel a sense of belonging, and do impactful work together.

In accordance with the Massachusetts Pay Transparency Act, the expected pay range for this position is $135,000-$150,000 annually including bonus and equity. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as licensure, years of experience, and other relevant qualifications.
