About the role: 

SUMMARY OF POSITION
LEARN LA hosts a variety of programs, events, and activities throughout the year to support our programming efforts and community outreach. Volunteers receive monthly updates about upcoming volunteer opportunities and are expected to respond if they are interested in participating. Volunteers report directly to the event host unless otherwise notified. Additionally, volunteers can express interest in assisting with specific tasks at any time.

What you'll do:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Volunteers will be contacted with opportunities to assist with a variety of events and activities hosted by LEARN, such as:


 LEARN's community events: Volunteers will assist with setup and tear-down of event facilities, greeting event attendees, running event stations, and other tasks as assigned

● Programming Activities: During Before & After School hours we offer a variety of expanded learning programs. Volunteers would assisting with monitoring students in the classroom setting, aid Youth Leaders with enrichment lessons, assist in distributing snacks, and ensure student safety

● LEARN’s KidsPlay Program: This program provides an organized, gender-specific athletic league for boys and girls in grades 3-8. The emphasis of KidsPlay is to offer opportunities to participate in sports, build skills, and develop confidence in learning new and healthy fundamental lifestyle skills.

● Assisting with other responsibilities if interest is expressed

Qualifications: 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
● Interest in working with, mentoring, and/or tutoring at-risk youth
● Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, peers, school staff, and others
● Ability to work as part of a team and act as a positive role model for students


PHYSICAL SKILLS
●May be asked to lift and carry small loads (up to 25 lbs.) and stand for prolonged hours.
● Requires the ability to observe the activity of children and others.  


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS (For Adults 18+)

● Must complete Live Scan and obtain Department of Justice and FBI
 ● Health Clearance (TB Test).
