About the role: 

SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Lead Teacher will oversee the operations of the Saturday Academy program, including supervising staff, ensuring proper attendance accounting, and communicating with parents.

What you'll do:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure effectiveness of the overall program by overseeing that program requirements are met each session, such as proper attendance tracking, providing meals, and effective instructional delivery;
Ensure the supervision and safety of assigned students at all times during program hours;
Ensure staff is implementing all aspects of the Saturday Academy curriculum;
Ensure staff maintains the classrooms;
Ensure student attendance is monitored and recorded;
Ensure staff hours are recorded and monitored;
Communicate with parents;
Collaborate with Janitor to ensure School/Classrooms are open and closed;
Ensure all staff has materials and supplies needed;
Communicate with District and Program Coordinator about program needs;
Ensure all students receive lunch for the day;
Collect attendance registers from Youth Leaders at end of each session, review, sign and submit to the ASPIRE box at their school on following Monday;
Collect timesheets from Youth Leaders on the Saturday before the end of the pay period, review, sign and submit to the ASPIRE box on the following Monday;
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Must be a credentialed Teacher currently employed at the district where the program will be implemented.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Interest in working with, mentoring, and tutoring at-risk youth;

Ability to work well with students, parents, peers, school staff, and others;

Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, peers, school staff and others;

Ability to work as part of a team and act as a positive role model for students and staff;

Ability to write basic reports summarizing events;

Other related duties as assigned.

LANGUAGE & COMPUTER SKILLS

The ability to speak Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese or Vietnamese is desired at many of our school sites;

Competence with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

PHYSICAL SKILLS
Must be able to lift and carry small loads (up to 25 lbs.) and stand for prolonged hours.

Condition of Employment & Benefits:
This is a Part-Time Casual, non-benefited, non-exempt, hourly position.  Hours of work may vary from 0 – 10 hours per month, depending on the program schedule.  This position requires the candidate to be available to work on scheduled Saturdays from 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
