We're Lick Honest Ice Creams and have been producing the finest, locally sourced, seasonally inspired ice creams in Austin since 2011! We work hard and get rave reviews from media around the country. Position Summary
Minimum Expectations
- Fully support Lick’s mission and integrity of the brand and of the business
- Fully engage in day-to-day operations primarily in back of house but with considerations to front of house as well (we work together!)
- Maintain highest kitchen sanitary and cleanliness levels
- Treat this position as a responsibility and a priority and be accountable for all actions, decisions made, or direction given
- Be dependable, punctual, and flexible with scheduling in busy seasons
- Surface concerns or frustrations immediately and directly to kitchen manager for resolution
- Assume positive intent and creatively solve any issues that arise as a team

Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare ice cream bases & components by following company recipes consistently and with attention to detail
- Ensure prepared bases & components are properly stored, maintained, and rotated for quality
- Complete all ice cream preparation within allotted scheduled time while upholding health & safety guidelines and company quality expectations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all items and equipment related to the prep department (tables, ovens, ingredient bins, fridges, tubs, lids, mixers, blenders, bowls, etc.)
- Document pertinent details daily within each department
- Adhere to churn schedule to ensure ice cream and novelty items are ready for distribution, and practice agility when schedule needs change based on demand
- Ensure all finished products & churned ice cream are consistent in texture, flavor, and mix-in or swirl distribution in line with brand standards
- Practice multi-tasking, efficiency and productivity in the churn department (i.e. packaging novelty goods while churning ice cream tubs)
- Follow standards for labeling, dating, storing & tracking for both ingredients and finished goods
- Uphold cleanliness & organization of any items or equipment related to the churn department and ensure all equipment remains clean and sanitized
- Monitor freezer temperatures & assist in any freezer reorganization or inventory projects as needed
- Organize & store received ingredients & goods properly according to FIFO regulations (and manage/direct any delegation of responsibilities to team)
- Maintain and report up-to-date stock levels for finished goods inventory, ensuring availability for kitchen and customer needs
- Assist in periodic inventory audits to reconcile stock levels and minimize waste
- Coordinate with Production Manager and Supply Chain Manager about any supplies or ingredients running low for timely replenishment of essential goods to keep things running smoothly
Essential Functions
- Able to communicate clearly and professionally with team members (face-to face or by telephone)
- Able to read and comprehend written material
- Able to stand for shifts lasting up to, but not limited to, 10 hours of time in a kitchen environment
- Perform tasks which involve repetitive motion including, but not limited to the use of arms, hands, wrists, back
- Follows standard procedures in the use of all kitchen appliances, equipment, utensils, etc.
- Able to adhere to all safety and sanitation regulations set forth both Lick and the State of Texas
- Able to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls
- Able to work in variable temperature conditions, such as below freezing temperatures (we will provide the cold wear!)
- Manage one’s time efficiently, multi-tasking while maintaining expectations of production
- Complete opening, closing, and all other cleaning checklists as required
- Lift 50# as needed
- Basic understanding of inventory management practices
- Integrate inventory systems into production kitchen and ensure consistency from team with usage
- Attention to detail for receiving goods & stock accuracy
- Ability to be able to decide to prioritize production or inventory role based on needs of kitchen & communicate effectively to team and leadership
- Flexibility with time, the inventory piece may require additional hours based on needs including nights/weekends
