Job Summary:
The Activities Assistant supports the planning, organization, and implementation of recreational, social, and therapeutic activities for residents in an assisted living community. This role helps enhance residents’ quality of life by promoting engagement, independence, and overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and carrying out daily, weekly, and monthly activity programs for residents
- Lead and support group activities such as games, arts and crafts, exercise sessions, music, and social events
- Encourage resident participation and provide one-on-one interaction when needed
- Help transport residents to and from activities, ensuring safety and comfort
- Set up and clean up activity areas and supplies
- Observe and report residents’ participation, mood, and behavior changes to the Activities Director or care team
- Support special events, holiday celebrations, and community outings
- Maintain activity records and attendance logs as required
- Ensure activities are inclusive and adapted to residents’ abilities and interests
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Experience working with seniors, especially in assisted living or healthcare settings (preferred)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Compassionate, patient, and positive attitude
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Basic organizational and time-management skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist residents with mobility
- Ability to lift or move light equipment and supplies
- May require pushing wheelchairs or assisting residents during activities
