About the role
The position will serve as a member of the HR team preparing and processing payroll for 2,000 US and International team members, as well as contract workers, and includes all aspects of payroll processing, such as wages (including taxes, deductions, and withholdings), time tracking, and issuing paychecks. Serves as the subject matter system expert for Payroll and Time Tracking systems.
What you'll do
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Lead and support end-to-end payroll processing using payroll and time tracking systems.
- Manage payroll preparation/processing, tax reporting, benefits-records administration, and payroll systems maintenance.
- Process bi-weekly payroll for U.S. and international employees, as well as U.S and international contractors.
- Generate and distribute payroll and overtime reporting as needed by cross-functional teams.
- Research and resolve payroll issues.
- Identify opportunities for payroll and timekeeping process improvements.
- Generate ad hoc reports from the HRIS/Payroll & Timekeeping systems for department leaders.
- Audit, preview, and post payroll reports to maintain supporting documentation of all payroll processes.
- Maintain tax jurisdictions, including setup and closure as needed.
- Oversee year-end payroll activities and ensure timely, accurate W-2 distribution.
- Support and enhance payroll standards, policies, practices, and procedures.
- Lead and support special projects as assigned, including process improvements, system implementations, compliance audits and cross-functional initiatives, ensuring timely execution and alignment with organizational goals
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements (Essential Skills, Knowledge & Abilities)
- Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Accounting or Business Administration preferred
- 5+ years of multi-state payroll experience required, international payroll experience preferred
- Certified Payroll Processing (CPP) certification a plus
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus to support Spanish-speaking employees
- Proficiency utilizing payroll and timekeeping software; experience using Rippling a plus
- Multi-state, federal, and local tax experience required
- Ability to calculate net salaries, considering deductions and withholdings
- Proven ability to work productively, efficiently, confidentially, and effectively under a tight timeline
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to seek resources as needed
- Proven customer service skills while maintaining a confidential work environment
