About the role

Are you passionate about data and eager to build your career in a dynamic, fast-paced environment? Liven is looking for a motivated Junior Data Engineer to join our team, working alongside our Senior Data Engineer to build and maintain our cutting-edge data infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with advanced tools and technologies, including Databricks and AWS, and to contribute to impactful projects from day one.

What you'll do

  • Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines under the mentorship of the Senior Data Engineer. Help automate data workflows and integrate multiple data sources to streamline data processes.
  • Support the management and optimization of our AWS infrastructure (S3, EC2, RDS, Redshift), ensuring secure and efficient data storage and retrieval.
  • Assist in managing Databricks clusters, optimizing Spark job performance, and troubleshooting issues to ensure smooth and reliable data processing.
  • Contribute to implementing data governance practices, ensuring high standards of data integrity, quality, and security across all platforms.
  • Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other team members to provide clean, reliable data for machine learning models, analytics, and business reporting.
  • Help maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of data pipelines, architecture, and governance processes, supporting team understanding and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Familiarity with Databricks and AWS services (e.g., S3, EC2, Redshift), and experience with data tools like Spark.
  • Basic programming skills in Python or Scala, and a working knowledge of SQL.
  • Foundational understanding of data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in data processing environments.
  • A proactive approach to learning new technologies and tools, particularly in big data, cloud infrastructure, and data governance.

Good to Have

  • Familiarity with BI tools such as Looker, PowerBI, or Tableau to support data visualization and reporting.
  • Experience working with data from POS systems or within the F&B or hospitality industries.
  • Basic understanding of version control systems like Git for managing code and collaboration.
  •  Introductory-level certifications in AWS or Databricks, demonstrating foundational cloud skills.
