About the role

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Accountant to join our growing finance team. You will support daily financial operations and help ensure the integrity and accuracy of our accounting processes. This role plays a pivotal part in maintaining smooth end-to-end finance workflows, especially across bank reconciliations, sales orders, invoicing, accounts receivable, and payable.

You’ll work closely with internal teams including Sales, Procurement, and Accounts Receivable, helping us build a scalable and responsive finance function as we continue to grow.

What you'll do

  • Upload and reconcile bank transactions regularly to maintain up-to-date financial records.
  • Create and manage Sales Orders and customer invoices in alignment with commercial agreements.
  • Issue credit memos related to RMAs (Return Merchandise Authorisation) or refunds.
  • Apply customer payments to outstanding balances accurately and promptly.
  • Respond to finance-related queries and collaborate with cross-functional teams for resolution.
  • Support accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, including accurate data entry.
  • Escalate issues to the appropriate internal teams when needed.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an accounting or finance support role within industry or corporate environments.
  • Good understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, particularly Revenue Recognition (AASB15/IFRS15).
  • Prior experience with NetSuite is highly regarded.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, with confidence handling large datasets and reconciliations.

Good to Have

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-organised and detail-focused, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience using Xero or similar accounting software.
  • Exposure to SaaS, technology, or startup environments, with a hands-on approach to problem solving.
  • Familiarity with AI tools in finance and a desire to embrace innovation.
