About the role

This is a business-critical role at the heart of our People & Culture operations — ensuring the smooth execution of global payroll and the seamless functioning of our people systems. Following the departure of a key team member, we're looking for a highly capable, detail-oriented professional to step in and lead with confidence. You’ll take ownership of payroll operations across 5+ countries, while continuing to evolve and optimise our HRIS (Rippling) to support a growing, distributed team. From compliance to configuration, from automation to accessibility — you’ll build the frameworks and systems that ensure every team member feels supported, seen, and set up for success.

If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, love solving complex operational challenges, and are passionate about people and processes, this role is for you.

What you'll do

As our HR Operations Manager, you'll own the backend engine of People & Culture at Liven. You’ll work across global teams and functions to deliver high-quality, compliant, and scalable people operations.

  • Run Global Payroll: Execute compliant, timely, and accurate payroll operations across all regions (with a focus on Australia and SEA).
  • Lead HRIS Evolution: Manage the configuration and lifecycle of Rippling, continuously improving functionality and user experience.
  • Systematise People Ops: Identify and remove friction from processes using a product mindset and human-centred design.
  • Automate Workflows: Design and implement scalable, tech-enabled workflows that improve efficiency and decentralise operations.
  • Ensure Compliance & Integrity: Safeguard the accuracy of people data, documentation, and process compliance across jurisdictions.
  • Design Policy Frameworks: Create scalable policies that meet both growth ambitions and local regulatory needs.
  • Drive Personalisation: Build dynamic employee profiles to support personalised experiences (onboarding, comms, performance).
  • Deliver Insights: Provide actionable people data for decision-making in talent reviews, performance calibration, and strategic planning.
  • Be the Glue: Act as the operational bridge between P&C, Talent, Learning, Finance, and business teams.

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of experience in People Operations, Global Payroll, or HR Systems
  • Proven experience with payroll in Australia and Southeast Asia
  • Strong command of HRIS platforms (Rippling preferred)
  • Knowledge of compliance and documentation requirements across multiple regions
  • Experience improving people processes through systems thinking and automation
  • Deep passion for data accuracy and scalable operations
  • Clear communicator with a knack for simplifying complexity
  • Commerce degree or equivalent qualification

Good to Have

  • Experience in a fast-scaling SaaS or startup environment
  • Familiarity with AI tools and platforms like Zapier, GPTs
  • Experience working with EOR providers or distributed teams
  • Knowledge of OKRs, performance management, or LMS tools
  • A product or customer experience lens applied to people process design
