Position Description

Production Supervisors play an integral part in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all stage and theatrical activities. This role will primarily be responsible for the Rollins’ Studio Theatre, a flexible black box theatre space that can be adapted to suit specific and unique performances. This role will be responsible for advancement, preparation, maintenance, staffing, and operation in the Rollins Theatre.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Serving as a primary liaison for resident companies, rentals, and events
  • Coordinating schedules and working directly with artists, talent, and show contacts to make sure all contractual obligations are met, ensuring events and performances live up to client expectations and meet the high standards of the Long Center
  • Taking advance information for incoming events and interpreting those needs within the Long Center’s spaces, equipment inventory, budget, staffing, and labor agreements
  • Ensuring all necessary information is posted to a shared database, including production estimates, light plots, ground plans, hang schedules, input lists, cast and crew lists, parking lists, production schedules, dressing room assignments, show reports, and production settlements
  • Scheduling, training, supervising, and managing labor and staff brought in to assist with Rollins productions as necessary, including part-time employees and over-hire stagehands
  • Creating, distributing, and posting expense estimates and budgets as they relate to a given production, including scenery, props, lighting, audio, labor, hospitality, and catering needs.
  • Tracking and reporting spending and submitting complete settlement documentation to the appropriate individuals at the end of each production
  • Consulting with other Long Center departments as needed to ensure productions and events in Rollins Theatre comply with Fire Code, Building Code, Health and Safety code, ADA requirements, and OSHA requirements, pertaining to all areas of production, including seating configurations, ADA accommodations and egress, stage build, live animals, fire and smoke effects, fall arrest, ladder safety, first aid equipment and supplies
  • Unlocking and relocking all production related spaces as necessary in coordination and cooperation with other Long Center departments, including Security and Housekeeping
  • Ensuring the stage is clear and clean at the end of the night, all trash is picked up and taken out, the stage is swept and mopped, and all equipment is properly stored and secured
  • Attending all Production Department and scheduled meetings; leading production meetings when needed
  • Planning and making recommendations for future Production Department needs, ensuring professionalism, cleanliness, effectiveness, and efficiency of the department
  • Protecting and maintaining Long Center facilities and equipment
  • Assisting Production, Event, and Operations staff with all aspects of event management, including Long Center campus areas outside of the Rollins Studio Theatre as needed

 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent certification or degree from a technical or trade school and 2 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD
  • Proven success scheduling and supervising stagehands, volunteers, contract labor, and part-time employees
  • Ability and availability to work irregular hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Lighting and sound experience a plus

 

Work Environment

This is an onsite role and is expected to regularly report to work onsite at the Long Center with a variable schedule that may include evenings and weekends. This salaried position starts at $65,000 annually. In addition to salary, The Long Center offers robust benefits, including:
