About the Role

Hi, I’m Sarah, Chief of Staff at Loop and I am hiring for a People and Business Operations Associate who is versatile and people-driven to lead our hiring efforts across all levels and functions. This is an exciting opportunity to shape Loop’s talent foundation from the ground up, while gaining hands-on exposure to a broad range of people and business operations.

This role is an onsite position 5 days per week at our downtown Toronto office (Adelaide and Spadina).

Where You Come In

You’ll be our first in-house recruiter, owning full-cycle hiring across all departments — from junior roles to senior leadership — as we aim to grow the team over the next  year. While recruitment is your main focus, you’ll also jump into people and business ops projects like onboarding, culture-building, performance reviews, and supporting the Senior Leadership team with projects and day-to-day tasks that help move the business forward. This is a great role for someone who’s excited to wear multiple hats, build foundational hiring processes, help shape the future of our team and tackle hard problems in various different areas.

What You'll Be Doing

Recruitment (~70%)

  • Partner with hiring managers to deeply understand team needs and craft compelling job descriptions.
  • Own full-cycle recruitment for roles across the business, from junior contributors to executive hires, across engineering, product, operations, finance, and more.
  • Source candidates using multiple channels (LinkedIn, communities, referrals, etc.) and maintain a healthy candidate pipeline.
  • Screen resumes, conduct first-round interviews, and coordinate the full interview process.
  • Ensure a seamless, engaging, and inclusive candidate experience from first touchpoint to offer.
  • Always being on the lookout for great candidates regardless of open roles and bringing in world class talent.

People & Business Operations (~30%)

  • Support internal operations such as onboarding and offboarding, internal documentation, and team coordination.
  • Support other teams at Loop to streamline processes, manage projects, and solve challenging problems.
  • Assist with light HR tasks like performance review cycles, employee feedback, and handling people-related queries from managers.
  • Pitch in on office logistics, scheduling, internal events, community management and anything else that helps the company run smoothly.
  • Be a trusted go-to teammate for operational gaps — jumping in wherever needed to keep the team aligned, informed, and thriving.

What We’re Looking For

  • 1-2 years of recruitment experience (internal or agency), in a fast-paced startup or tech environment.
  • Comfortable recruiting for a wide range of roles, including technical, non-technical, and leadership positions.
  • Strong communicator who can build trust with candidates and internal stakeholders.
  • Curious and scrappy — you’re excited to take ownership, experiment, and wear multiple hats.
  • Passionate about people and culture, with a desire to contribute beyond just hiring.
  • Highly organized, able to juggle multiple open roles and tasks, and push processes forward with minimal friction.
  • Based in Toronto and excited about working in person with a close-knit team.

It's a Bonus if You Have

  • Experience in tech.
  • Experience working with small teams, particularly at start-ups.
