Senior Development Associate, Strategic Philanthropy & Partnerships

The Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health, in partnership with Stanford Medicine and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, unlocks philanthropy to transform health for children and families in Northern California - and around the world. Through fundraising and grantmaking, the Foundation drives scientific research, innovation, and policy change that will improve care, advance cures, and reform healthcare systems for this and future generations.  


MAIN FOCUS: Supporting the work of the Vice President, Fundraising Strategy and Campaigns and the Strategic Philanthropy & Partnerships team.


LOCATION: Palo Alto, CA (hybrid); the successful candidate will be based in the Bay Area.


ABOUT THE TEAM

 

The Strategic Philanthropy & Partnerships (SPP) team is a revenue and field team-focused nexus team within the Foundation. The team’s core functions include:

  • Driving fundraising strategy as well as case and resources development for Campaign initiatives and other select fundraising priority areas;
  • Leading bespoke gift strategy development and gift opportunities identification, vetting, and implementation;
  • Facilitating strategic partnership alignment with key internal and external stakeholders; and
  • Creating and sustaining nimble and efficient systems and processes that support priority fundraising, gift, and communication strategies.


WHAT YOU'LL DO... 


The Senior Development Associate serves as a key support for the administrative needs of the Vice President, Fundraising Strategy & Campaigns (approximately 50% of the time) as well as select administrative needs within the Strategic Philanthropy & Partnerships team. This person is a highly organized, detail-oriented, strategic team player who can exercise strong judgment, take initiative, and successfully work on concurrent tasks at a fast pace. This person is a skilled communicator, and both comfortable with and excited about working with various working styles, role groups and job functions. They are proactive and innovative in developing and improving systems, routines and approaches to support the work of the VP and the team overall.

 

This position reports to the Vice President, Fundraising Strategy & Campaigns.

 

The compensation range for this position is $36.06 to $39.42 per hour.


YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR...


Administrative ~50%

  • Manage the Outlook calendar for the VP; negotiate the needs of others requesting time, resolve scheduling conflicts with limited or no consultation.
    • Support calendar coordination for select meetings initiated by other members of the SPP team that involve key stakeholders.
  • Prepare materials as needed for VP meetings, including but not limited to briefings, agendas, talking points, reference documents, PPT decks, and minutes.
    • Provide similar support for select meetings initiated by other members of the SPP team that involve key stakeholder.
  • Coordinate all logistics for the VP for all in-person internal, external meetings, book conference rooms, prepare and disseminate meeting materials, provide AV support when needed.
    • Provide similar support for select meetings initiated by other members of the SPP team that involve key stakeholder.
  • Help maintain processes for storing, tracking, and sharing information.
  • Prepare and submit monthly expense reports.
  • Build a network of relevant administrative and faculty contacts at the hospital and School of Medicine.
  • Other administrative duties, as assigned.

Project Coordination ~40%

  • Campaign Central: scan the internal communication landscape for information related to priority fundraising initiatives; update site as needed.
  • Gift & Funding Needs Catalogue: enter data, run reports, and update information as directed.
  • Enter, track and cascade details for VP project -related tasks assigned in Monday.com boards.
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure alignment on deadlines and deliverables for the VP and members of the SPP team.

Portfolio & Database Management ~10%

  • Actively update and maintain the Foundation’s constituent relationship management database, electronic filing systems, and content-sharing platforms to support the VP’s direct donor and volunteer management work.
  • Draft meeting summaries; enter these summaries and other donor correspondence into the database in a timely manner.
  • Draft simple donor and volunteer-facing communications.
  • Conduct light research and assist with pulling grateful patient, portfolio management, and pipeline data in coordination with Advancement Services colleagues.

YOU MUST HAVE...

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Capacity to function effectively at a rapid pace on a high-execute team with a high volume of work.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 including Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and Teams; understanding of database systems.
  • Excellent organization and project management skills with outstanding attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to meet shifting and tight deadlines while managing multiple priorities.
  • Exemplary writing skills.


 IT'S AN ADDED PLUS IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH...

  • Development fundraising and/or understanding of philanthropy.
  • Project management in a complex environment, preferably in healthcare and/or higher education.
  • Additional software proficiency in: Raiser’s Edge, Monday.com, PowerBI, AI, and Blackbaud.
