About the role

As a Backend Engineer, you will be the backbone of our data infrastructure, working directly with our Lead Backend Engineer to transition our systems into a high-performance, unified platform. You will own the "single source of truth" for all on-chain data across Moonwell and Mamo, ensuring that our conversational interfaces are powered by reliable, real-time information

What you'll do

• Evolve the Core Indexing Stack: Lead the transition to a more robust, scalable indexing architecture that delivers highly accurate onchain data across core product surfaces.
• Unify Multichain Data Infrastructure: Simplify and harden how we ingest and normalize data across multiple networks, reducing operational risk and improving long-term maintainability.
• Design for Rapid Market Expansion: Build flexible backend foundations that make it fast and repeatable to launch new markets, vaults, and yield opportunities.
• Support Social and Growth Features: Create reliable backend services and data models that power user-facing social, attribution, and engagement experiences.

What you bring

• Operational Reliability: Proven experience building and operating backend services that prioritize availability, performance, and predictable behavior under load.
• Onchain Data Systems: Strong grasp of blockchain data pipelines, including event ingestion, consistency guarantees, and designing for failure modes inherent to decentralized networks.
• System Design Discipline: Comfortable defining durable API boundaries and producing clear operational documentation that supports effective incident response and recovery.

Nice to have

• Experience working with complex DeFi or financial smart contract systems, including lending, borrowing, or asset management protocols.
• Familiarity with modern L2 or scaling ecosystems and their underlying architecture.
• Understanding of growth, attribution, or incentive systems that track user activity and engagement at scale.
• Experience contributing across backend and frontend boundaries in production systems.
• Participation in security reviews, bug bounties, hackathons, or other hands-on engineering competitions.
• Formal education in computer science or equivalent practical engineering experience.
