Salary Range: $140,000 - $180,000 + Bonus Eligible

Description

Thompson Software Solutions is seeking a Principal SW Integration Engineer Lead who is ready to work with a talented team to provide innovative solutions for tomorrow’s problems. This position requires a software engineer to use a wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the software field to develop, integrate, and test software products. The successful candidate will be a member of a high-performing multi-site team and must be self-motivated with a strong work ethic, time-management, and interpersonal skills. In this role, you will work independently at times on projects, at other times will be in a collaborative team environment with other software engineers, as well as other program development and deployment teams. 

 Selected applicants will be subjected to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and must maintain eligibility for continued access to classified information throughout their employment as required by the job.

Main Responsibilities:

       Lead (HW/SW) Hardware / Software Subsystem integration activities at the Holistic (MSV) Main Subsystem Vehicle or (KV) Key Vehicle level.   

       Coordinate across various SW/HW teams to ensure vehicle functions are as intended.

o   This includes FPGA, Flight Software, Test SW, EGSE, STE, and Simulation.

o   Wherever HW touches, SW is within purview and a potential area for integration activities.

       Ensure end-to-end interface compatibility throughout the system inclusive of external interfaces.

       The expectation of this role will have authority to delegate tasks to the appropriate SEIT, Avionics, Firmware, Software, EGSE, STE, Testbed, and Test POCs.

 

Design Integration Task:

1.      Drive completion of any unresolved system level HW/SW interfaces and /or changes related to ERB.

2.      Drive completion of subsystem level interface documents/models.

3.      Drive closure of HW/SW integration issues from a design perspective as they are identified with the team.

4.      Support relevant interface documentation reviews which include internal, SDRL, and CDRL.

5.      HW/SW configuration definition, co-ops, and parameter management.

 

Hardware building testing task:

1.      Focus on test labs and hands on successful integration and V&V activities from a holistic perspective.

a.      Hardware fidelity pedigree

b.      Sim model V&V, hardware simulation functions adequately

c.      Drive progress and solve deficiencies when found

2.      Assist with any HW/SW integration issues found in the lad with availability to assist with subsystems integration issues.

a.      Expectation heavy in person lab presence or delegation of this to supporting integrator FTEs.  


Basic Requirements:

       Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline or related experience.

       10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on systems-level development testing and integration.

       Expertise in one or more programming languages (e.g., Go, Python, C++, Java).

       Proven experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), container orchestration (Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation).

       Deep understanding of distributed systems, networking, and operating systems.

       Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of delivering high-impact solutions.

       5+ years of C/C++

       Experience with Digital Simulation Development and integration

       Experience with Embedded Software development

       Experience with I&T integration and test. 

       Experience with Full Software Development Cycle

       Experience with (FSW) Flight software engineering

       Proficient with Linux and Windows development environments

       Ability to professionally communicate project status and collaborate on technical solutions with clients and peers

       “Clearance eligibility required”

       Ability to work onsite 100%

       Travel 25%


Preferred / Additional Skills

       Proficient with Atlassian Tools (Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket, etc.)

       Proficient in Python development

       Experience leading technical projects or mentoring junior engineers.

       Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).

       Familiarity with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools (Cameo, AADL)

       Experience with safety-critical software development and practices (DO-178C)

       Experience with Navigation, Guidance and Control Implementation

       Experience with Signal Processing Implementation

       Experience developing Embedded Flight Software

       Experience communicating and documenting complex technical designs

       Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment

       Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
